Shapiro knocks 'rhetoric of rage' after Trump 'scum' remark

Source: The Hill

09/15/25 8:30 AM ET

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) late Sunday criticized President Trump’s use of the word “scum” in his latest remarks criticizing left-wing groups and pushed back on the suggestion that political violence is a problem plaguing only one side.

“No one party is immune from political violence,” Shapiro wrote in a post on the social platform X. “My family and I can attest to that.” “Using the rhetoric of rage and calling some of our fellow Americans ‘scum’ — no matter how profound our differences — only creates more division and makes it harder to heal,” he added.

Shapiro, a moderate Democrat, was targeted in an alleged assassination attempt earlier this year, when his home was set on fire as his family slept inside.

His latest post came in response to a clip of Trump telling reporters Sunday that left-leaning groups would be investigated after the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The M$M therefore doesn't make much of THAT violence, except to assure us all that it's a "lone wolf with mental issues" and therefore nothing at all to do with their wingerdom.

-his ancestors were from the area and as a wealthy businessman before becoming governor, he didn't bother.

So it hadn't been used in years before Shapiro and his family moved in. It's in a pretty obscure and secluded neighborhood mixed in with other homes, and few probably knew where it even was, let alone what it was (other than the neighbors).

Shapiro and his family had just finished a seder meal and they and their guests had left the dininig room when a mentally unstable guy got through the PA state police security and was able to toss two molotov cocktails into the dining room setting it ablaze. He was caught running away, but of course a major fail by the PSP.

The arsonist reportedly had a grudge because he was losing his house and blamed Shapiro.

Later reports came out that it was probably the doors to the dining room being closed that kept the fire contained and allowed Shapiro, his family and guests to escape unharmed.

I'm afraid I've passed that point of being able to dismiss the division that magas and trump are sowing. They are coming after me, mine, and my friends. I'm no longer in a "dismissive" mood.
