FBI release images of 'person of interest' in Charlie Kirk shooting
Source: BBC
The FBI in Salt Lake City has just released pictures of a "person of interest" in the shooting of Charlie Kirk yesterday.
They are asking for the public's help in identifying the person. They are the first images law enforcement has released of an individual they believe may be involved in Kirk's death.

(56,649 posts)Looks very much like a male; no breasts, male body shape, male haircut, masculine clothing. He has light skin. He has relatively short hair, clean shaven...may not even shave yet. Thin neck and jaw line, looks young, early twenties at best, could be a teenager. He fled on foot into a wooded area, then on foot into the neighborhood; may not have a car or even a driver's license yet. He apparently discarded what is described as a "high powered" long rifle in the wooded area as he fled. My guess is the rifle is not registered to him. Probably his dad's or someone else's. Left a palm and firearm print. Definitely not a professional. FBI says the were able to track his movements on the roof, which means he had a cell phone and it was turned on, another rookie move. Professional snipers know the FBI can check cell tower data to see the movements of everyone with a cell phone in that area. The FBI apparently lost track of him after he enters a nearby neighborhood. He may have gotten in someone's car and drove off, or disabled his phone at that point. But the FBI have a lot to go on at this point. My guess is he is a local. They should be able to track him down and capture him quickly. But this is Kash Patel's FBI we're talking about, so all bets are off.

(5,194 posts)but he seems to have been a good shot or very lucky.
If they were tracking his phone, and it wasn't a burner, he is officially an idiot.

(58,353 posts)Kash Patel was born 17 or more years after that photo.
You can't pin (as if there is a controversy) that on him and yes, it is a photo, it is of Oswald, and any controversy about it bogus shit.

(58,353 posts)I wrote it was a picture of Oswald. I never said anyone said it was of Patel and nobody said it was a picture of Patel.
There is a controversy about the photo, of course, all ginned up by the conspiracy theorists around. They like to cynically pretend that organizations never change and have corrupt lineages traceable to the current regime while they discount well known facts, so I simply pointed out that Patel was not involved. It is a noteworthy aspect of authoritarian regimes that they lie about everything, not to get people to believe their lies, but to get people to disbelieve everything. That kind of erosion in public consciousness must be resisted. Conspiracy theorists are such tools of others and they are clueless about that aspect.

Weird face and body shape. Sickly? But not just that. Something just looks "off". YMMV

(58,353 posts)Cap not odd, body shape not odd, sweatshirt not odd, design on shirt not odd, jeans not odd, running shoes not odd, sunglasses not odd.
Clothing a bit bunched at shoulder in one shot, but even that is not especially odd. I guess it is possible he might have thin body armor under the shirt.

(12,072 posts)And back. Like he's wearing something underneath his shirt. Could it be a bullet proof vest? Or is it just distortion from the freeze frame video? Or chest rigging for rifle amo?
The Daily Beast says it's a book bag, which could be where his rifle is stowed, depending on the rifle and how it breaks down.
It does look lumpy.

(172 posts)The wide hips seemed feminine to me, and also the shoulders lack muscle. The sideburns disqualify my thoughts, but could be part of a hairstyle to be more masculine. I am probably wrong on all counts but couldn't help but notice.

(12,429 posts)If he's heading up the stairs to the roof, then the gun would have to be already planted there.
If this photo is of him coming down, how did he transport that long gun to the woods, where it was later found wrapped in a towel?
I think this may not be the shooter.
Miguelito Loveless
(5,194 posts)the Right is these days, I would be talking Russian agents setting this whole thing up to help Trump. An agent went in a day before to plant the rifle for the sniper, then a decoy agent goes around acting/dressing suspiciously, while better camouflaged agents spirit the gun away and plant it in the woods to be found. Whatever videos are out there are going to get the Zapruder treatment.
Of course, the Right will have tied it to Hunter/Joe/Hillary within the next day or so.
