Gov. Josh Shapiro calls for end to political violence after Charlie Kirk is shot

Source: WGAL

In the wake of the shooting, Shapiro posted the following to X:

"Political violence has no place in our country. We must speak with moral clarity. The attack on Charlie Kirk is horrifying and this growing type of unconscionable violence cannot be allowed in our society."

Note: the Associated Press contributed to this report.

Gov. Shapiro ordered United States and Commonwealth flags on all Commonwealth facilities, public buildings, and grounds across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to fly at half-staff as a mark of respect for the memory of Charlie Kirk.

Not saying that it's therefore okay, but in fact, it has a long and mostly ignoble history: The Revolutionary War, The Native American Massacre, Slavery, The Civil War, Jim Crow, the killings of labor organizers and protesters in early 20th century, multiple presidential/congressional/candidate assassinations (and attempts thereof), JFK, RFK, MLK, Kent State, Malcolm X (maybe), Gabby, Melissa Hortman, Paul Pelosi, Steve Scalise ... I'm sure I'm missing a great many that could go on this list.

This is really not to call out the USA specifically, I'm sure MOST countries have similar (and in many cases, worse) histories.

But also, Josh?

I trust you also lowered the flags in PA in honor of Melissa Hortman, her husband, and her dog, yes?

It's funny that you want a stop "Political violence" after the republican party has been doing just that for over 40 years, where were you then? I'm not saying that there should be no end to the violence as a matter of fact I have been fighting for just that since the days of saint roney regan. No one listened and now we have a fake president who not only spews political violence but condones it as long as it's the republican party doing it. But the few times it was done by someone who was connected to the democratic party he insisted they be punished to the harshest extent. Where have you been Josh because kirk was a race bating, hate spewing, republican party propaganda spewing spokesman but he was never a political figure. He was not in a political position therefore kirk was just murdered and nothing else, let's hope the violence ends but at this point with the republican party bending a knee to trump, nra and corrupt supreme court I don't see it comming anytime soon, so Josh don't let this be your last scream for normality make it your first before you actually try to do something about it.
