CNN, Fox, ABC, CBS, NYT all silent even though they were seeing the same thing everyone else was seeing, and that became the story. What was it that the major mainstream news sources were seeing that couldn't be spoken of?

The story is much safer now. Blame red or blue politician according to one's tribe. Money allocated for this or that the reason. NYT harkened back 120 years to I forget what, CNN pondered the murderer.
