Hamas says top leaders survived Israeli strike on Qatar while five lower-ranking members were killed

Source: Associated Press

Updated 2:02 PM CDT, September 9, 2025

Hamas says its top leaders survived the Israeli strike on Qatar and that five lower-ranking members died.

A Qatari security personnel was also killed, the Hamas statement said.

Hamas, which has sometimes only confirmed the assassination of its leaders months later, offered no immediate proof its top leaders had survived.

Israel launched a strike targeting Hamas’ leadership in Qatar on Tuesday as they considered a U.S. proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The strike on the territory of a U.S. ally marked a stunning escalation and risked upending talks aimed at winding down the war and freeing hostages.

but these days. It has been months since we have known what the next day would bring.

It seems that Israel is in the position of: if Bibi can't have everything he wants, he will burn down Israel. I have believed that is what Trump has been wanting for a long time.

Frankly, I hope the whole bunch of Arab nations decides to take Bibi out. I have friends in Israel, but damn! This is a blatant violation of international law and a declaration of war.

My late Israeli friend Yitzhak was a flaming leftist who never had any use for Bibi or the right wing or the "ultras" as he called the Haredim, who are a powerful voting bloc but don't, for the most part, serve in the army, yet are all in on the "reconquest" of the West Bank which they see as their "God-given" land. He is no doubt on spin cycle at present. Not too sure how my friend Michal feels about this either as she isn't fond of them but is a member of the Peace Party. She should probably have stayed over here, however she went back and became a well-known marine archaeologist. Yitzhak was a friend to the Bedouins (his kibbutz in the northern Negev sponsors a clinic for local tribes and a shop for local artisans) and lived with them for a time when he was young. He got along okay with Palestinians until some bombed a school his kids went to.

Pretty sure that's against international law. They don't even try to hide it.
