Trump Suggests Domestic Violence Isn't Really A Crime And Critics Pounce
Source: huff Post
Considering that homicide by an abusive partner is the leading cause of death among pregnant and postpartum women in the U.S., it's no wonder that people were outraged.

During an event at Washington, D.C.s Museum of the Bible on Monday, the president suggested domestic violence shouldnt be considered a crime.
It appeared he was dismissing such actions because calling domestic violence a crime hurts his claim that crime has seriously dropped in D.C. since he deployed the National Guard last month.
.....................
They said crimes down 87%. I said, No, no, no, its more than 87%. Virtually nothing, Trump said during his speech, before suggesting domestic violence shouldnt be considered a crime.
Much lesser things, things that take place in the home, they call crime. You know, theyll do anything they can to find something. If a man has a little fight with the wife, they say, This was a crime, see? So now I cant claim 100%.
You can see Trump make the statement in the clip below...................

We have about over 3 years of Trumps crap yet. damn!
Aaron Rupar @atrupar
Trump claims crime is down to "virtually nothing" in DC and adds the crimes that are happening are "much lesser things. Things that take place in the home they call crime. You know, they'll do anything they can to find something. If a man has a little fight with the wife they say, 'this is a crime. See?'"

Trump said crime in Washington, D.C., would be nonexistent if local authorities
stopped counting "a little fight with the wife."

(507 posts)Every day Trump says something stupid and the GOP just looks the other way even though Trump is burying the Republican party in a hole it will take them a decade to get out of.
He normalizes truly deplorable stuff they like. They figure if the president says it's OK, then they can do it too.

My concern though is his message going out to his weak-willed voters who may consider this a pardon, if not an actual invitation to engage in his behavior.

(93,711 posts)Population-level surveys based on reports from survivors provide the most accurate estimates of the prevalence of intimate partner violence and sexual violence. A 2018 analysis of prevalence data from 20002018 across 161 countries and areas, conducted by WHO on behalf of the UN Interagency working group on violence against women, found that worldwide, nearly 1 in 3, or 30%, of women have been subjected to physical and/or sexual violence by an intimate partner or non-partner sexual violence or both (2).
Global and regional estimates of violence against women
Over a quarter of women aged 1549 years who have been in a relationship have been subjected to physical and/or sexual violence by their intimate partner at least once in their lifetime (since age 15). The prevalence estimates of lifetime intimate partner violence range from 20% in the Western Pacific, 22% in high-income countries and Europe and 25% in the WHO Regions of the Americas to 33% in the WHO African region, 31% in the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region, and 33% in the WHO South-East Asia region.
Globally as many as 38% of all murders of women are committed by intimate partners. In addition to intimate partner violence, globally 6% of women report having been sexually assaulted by someone other than a partner, although data for non-partner sexual violence are more limited. Intimate partner and sexual violence are mostly perpetrated by men against women.
Lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic and its social and economic impacts have increased the exposure of women to abusive partners and known risk factors, while limiting their access to services. Situations of humanitarian crises and displacement may exacerbate existing violence, such as by intimate partners, as well as non-partner sexual violence, and may also lead to new forms of violence against women.

Trump has certainly co-opted a ton of religious "leaders."

(1,451 posts)Didn't Ivana once report that the Felon raped her following a "painful botched hair replacement procedure" because she recommended it? Ah, now I understand. He didn't consider it a crime. Or, for that matter, a person deserving dignity and respect.
It's very evident that women and girls of all ages are there purely for his enjoyment. So he can grab them by the ....., to be referred to as "those lips, that mouth" when asked about his press secretary. Who can forget the photo of pre-teen Ivanka sitting on daddy's knee which would be an innocent pose had we not seen him in another photo with his hand on his daughter's ass during celebrations for his first term and his statement about acknowledging she was a piece of ass and also stating if she wasn't his daughter he'd probably be dating her.
That's not taking into account his numerous affairs while married, or proven felonious sexual assaults and accusations or his purchasing beauty pageants of adults and teenagers which he says gave him the right to ogle women and teen girls in various states of undress.
But he nevvver, had anything to do with Epstein and the sexual assaults on underage girls.
You "gentlemen" in the Republican party stand by and say nothing and defend this pig with your lies and denial. Why? Because you are him. You envy him and his behavior. Do your daughters know about daddy in the next room with your f.cked up thoughts and desires. You Republican women just stand by and do nothing, why, because it's a time honored tradition. Once again, I bring up the promised virginity that belongs to daddy until the right guy comes along. Isn't that quaint.
Go ahead, beat your wives, it doesn't count, not really.

I can't believe he's president. I can't believe someone that totally ignorant even exists, let alone has people who listen to him, vote for him and follow him. Every time he opens his piehole, something incredibly stupid pours out amongst the gibberish. How can his followers not see that he has no, absolutely no, redeeming qualities whatsoever? NONE.
Every time I think he has gone as low as he possibly can, he goes and proves me wrong.
