Pentagon gripped by 'frustration, anger and downright confusion' aimed at Trump: report

Source: msn/Raw story

12h

Outside of Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, there is little excitement within the Pentagon and among former defense officials to see the Department of Defense (DOD) renamed as the Department of War (DOW) with worries about cost, confusion and also how other nations will use the change for propaganda purposes.

According to a report from Politico, the long-anticipated rebranding landed with a thud on Friday as the president and the controversial Hegseth discussed it in an Oval Office press availability. Trump told reporters, “We won World War I, we won World War II, we won everything before that and in between, and then we decided to go woke, and we changed the name to DOD. So, we’re going Department of War.”

That was greeted with “frustration, anger and downright confusion at the effort, which could cost billions of dollars for a cosmetic change that would do little to tackle the military’s most pressing challenges — such as countering a more aggressive alliance of authoritarian nations,” wrote Politico’s Jack Detsch, Paul McLeary and Joe Gould.

One former defense official scoffed, “This is purely for domestic political audiences. Not only will this cost millions of dollars, it will have absolutely zero impact on Chinese or Russian calculations. Worse, it will be used by our enemies to portray the United States as warmongering and a threat to international stability.”

Redeem yourselves. Redeem the nation.

A showdown looms. The time is now. 47 has proven how weak he is. If not for the sake of your souls, then for the sake of your political survival.

If you refuse to impeach and remove 47 and his co-conspirator Vance for the countless violations of the constitution and common decency, then at least impeach and remove town-drunk Hegseth. At least impeach and remove the lunatic RFK, Jr.

And come to terms with reality. You cannot fund this lunatic regime without concessions. For starters, reverse the MAGA Murder Budget Medicaid cuts, extend Affordable Care Act subsidies, restore USAID funding, and assert your constitutional power to END 47's tariff insanity.

Key Events:

1947:
The National Security Act was passed, abolishing the Department of War and creating the National Military Establishment, which merged the Army, Navy, and the newly created Air Force under a single civilian-headed department.

1949:
The National Military Establishment was renamed the Department of Defense. This name change was enacted by Congress to reflect the broader duties of the unified department, including national security and foreign policy, as well as to emphasize the goal of preventing war in the emerging nuclear age.

Psychologically it's far easier to sell everyone on the need for spending on defense than it is for war.

Change probably won't go over well with his base, either. He convinced so many of them that he would be this tiny dove of peace and end wars and prevent our involvement in others. Since he was inaugurated, he's been talking about invading other nations, both friendly and unfriendly. Sure, there are those who are fully on board with this, but they aren't the types that voted for him because he promised peace. People need to be scared away from him. Democrats can do that by planting the idea in their heads that Trump will bring back the draft. It's an inevitable consequence of his decisions, and it will shrink his support even more.

I mean, this is getting ridiculous. The American body politic is rejecting trump the way the human body rejects a foreign, disease-bearing organism. It's time to ditch him.

I guess the great minds at politico have been hibernating. This is precisely the alliance trump wants to join.

Friend of mine with whom I served in Vietnam has a son who is an Army general officer with more than one star.

Talking with my friend today, his son is pissed, frustrated, very concerned about how our allies and adversaries see us but the worst part is that according to him most of the officer corps and senior NCO corps, and a good portion of the troops are at the "I didn't sign up for this shit" stage.

A small percentage are combatants.

The rest are techs, support, logistics, security and every other job needed to run a city, with an attached military of ground troops.

Watch this little twerp. He's talking at trump. Just more theater! The arm movements... the inflection. It's sickening

Pete Hegseth says the Trump administration is restoring the name of Department of War because the US "hasn't won a major war since" it was renamed the Department of Defence.

These people are breathtakingly stupid.
