The surgeon general from the first Trump administration on Saturday said that the US president should absolutely fire health secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr over his dangerous policies on vaccines and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Jerome Adams, who has become a pointed critic of the public health decisions being swiftly rolled out in the second Trump administration, made his most fierce attack yet on what has been unfolding. Hes putting us at risk, Adams said of RFK Jr, adding that Kennedy is endangering America at large with moves to limit access to vaccines, such as shots to protect against the deadly Covid-19 virus.
In an interview with CNN on Saturday morning, anchor Victor Blackwell asked Adams, who served as Donald Trumps surgeon general from 2017 to 2021, including through the height of the coronavirus pandemic, whether Kennedy should resign. Well, hes not going to resign, Adams said.
Asked whether, therefore, Trump should fire his health secretary, Adams said: I absolutely believe that he should, for the sake of the nation.

Former Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin says he will not join President-elect Trumps new administration but will offer advice to whoever takes the top finance role.
Mnuchin told Reuters it was important for the Treasury to work toward strengthening U.S. trade policy, including holding China to its trade commitments from Trumps 2020 deal to rebalance trade.
The former Cabinet member said serving in Trumps first administration was the experience of a lifetime and Mnuchin said he is happy to advise on the outside.
He said he would provide advice to whomever Trump picks, including how to strengthen sanctions on Russia and Iran and contain the countrys debt.

Former Surgeon General Jerome Adams says he is still feeling the impact of the Trump hangover, nearly two years out from his stint in the Trump administration.
People still are afraid to touch anything that is associated with Trump, Adams told The Washington Post in an interview published Friday.
Adams, who served as surgeon general for nearly all of former President Trumps term, said he had a difficult time finding a position in academia or the corporate world after he left the administration.
It was a lot harder than he thought to find a landing spot because of the Trump Effect, his wife, Lacey Adams, told the Post.

this job.
He wants both the Kennedy name and also one he
can use to stick it to the good Kennedys.
He man ultimately be forced to fire RFKJr, but he
won't like it.
