House Republicans have voted to establish a new subcommittee to reinvestigate the January 6 attack, a move that comes as Donald Trump has tried to rewrite the history of the most violent incident in US Capitol history.
Language to set up the Republican-led subcommittee was folded into a larger rule that passed along party lines. The new subcommittee follows Republican claims that the previous Democratic-led committee was biased against Trump.
The vote comes seven months after House speaker Mike Johnson first announced the new subcommittee in January, saying that it will uncover the full truth that is owed to the American people. On his first day in office, Trump issued 1,500 full, complete and unconditional presidential pardons to people who were involved in the attack, including those who were convicted of violent acts.
The new Republican-led subcommittee will be chaired by Barry Loudermilk of Georgia, who will have full subpoena authority. When Loudermilk formally introduced the resolution to establish the subcommittee in July, Johnson said: House Republicans remain intent on delivering the answers that House Democrats skipped over.

(12 posts)Ginni been mighty quiet.
She was like the or at least "a" significant nexus for transportation arrangements in coordinating that whole "shebang" known as jan/6.
She & "the hubby" should have been booted out long ago. Her formative years included cult "membership".
Hubby's formative years included his trashing the EEOC as a weak attempt to hide his pitiful self-hatred.
Sadly, Joe Biden played a significant but perhaps unwitting enabler as Anita Hill tried to humbly/discreetly explain poor Ckarence's clumsy attempts at office "romance" overtures.
Regretful, well-meaning attempts to minimize public incompetence has inch-by-inch landed this country exactly where we find ourselves now.
Not being able to accept these facts doesn't change the reality of our collective circumstances.

Can anyone really expect republicans to be honest about this? Its all BS, finding ways to exculpate their cult leader.

Our goal is to answer the remaining questions, uncover all the facts, and implement reforms so this level of security failure never happens again. Its time to finish the job.

Talk about waste, fraud, and abuse. The party of "fiscal conservatism" has so little respect for the taxpayer dime that they have nothing better to do than use it on rewriting history every single fucking day.

"The President of the United States has the sole authority to call out the National Guard in Washington D.C., as the D.C. National Guard's chain of command reports directly to the President, not a state governor. The President can also delegate this authority to the Secretary of Defense. This is a unique arrangement because, unlike state National Guards which report to their respective governors, the D.C. Guard operates under the President's direct command.".
So shut your trap, drumphf, and anyone else. 😬😑

(169,760 posts)The GOPs Jan. 6 probe during the last Congress was an embarrassing dud. Rather than learn an obvious lesson, the party is going to give it another try.
Republican leaders: Weâre âlooking forwardâ and leaving Jan. 6 in the rearview mirror.

A select subcommittee to continue a Republican-led reinvestigation of the events around Jan. 6, 2021, has officially been given the green light. Its been a long time coming for Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., who helmed a similar subpanel under the House Administration Committee last Congress and lobbied leadership for a new venue in the 119th. Roughly eight months after Loudermilk and Speaker Mike Johnson announced their intentions to form the subcommittee and after prolonged negotiations hes finally cleared to get to work.
The panel will have eight members, wholl be chosen by the House speaker, but the partisan split will not be even: The resolution said no more than three of the eight members will be appointed in consultation with the Democratic minority.......
In the months that followed, Loudermilk continued to engage in half-hearted efforts he even asked the Justice Department to launch a criminal investigation into former House GOP Conference Chair Liz Cheney for foolish reasons that collapsed under scrutiny but by any fair measure, the entire endeavor was a failure.
Congressional Democrats barely bothered to push back against Loudermilks investigation for the most insulting of reasons: They saw it as too boring and pitiful to warrant a full-throated response.
And now House Republican leaders have settled on a brilliant idea: Johnson wants the same congressman who failed in his previous Jan. 6 investigation to keep going with another Jan. 6 investigation in the current Congress all while telling the public that GOP lawmakers are looking forward and leaving Jan. 6 in the rearview mirror.
MAGA activists who are expecting blockbuster revelations should probably start lowering their expectations now.
The only thing that the last investigation purported to accomplish was to exonerate Loudermilk
I would not expect much from this committee
