'It infuriates us': Veterans rage at 'abusive' Trump over reports of him stiffing soldiers

Source: Raw Story

August 31, 2025 8:53AM ET

Donald Trump has reportedly gone out of his way to avoid paying national guard troops sent in to Washington, D.C., resulting in outrage from veterans. The reports started earlier in the summer that Trump was utilizing a loophole when deploying the national guard, and avoiding paying those individuals certain additional benefits. In June, Vote In Or Out reported that "Trump deployed National Guard troops on multiple 29-day orders—specifically choosing durations under 30 days to avoid paying full Basic Allowance for Housing Type 1 (BAH‑1)."

"Under Title 32 regulations, if orders run fewer than 30 days, members receive only the reduced 'BAH‑Type 2,' not full BAH‑1; full benefits begin only on day 31 and only apply from that point forward—not retroactively," the group wrote. "By repeatedly cycling short orders—ending them on day 29 and restarting on day 31—the administration saved roughly $2,500 per service member per month, based on differences between BAH‑Type 2 and BAH‑1."

Now, there are rumors circulating from veterans on Reddit and other social media that it's happening again. Early Sunday morning, military analyst WarMonitor reported, "White House put DC National Guard on 29-day orders... 1 day short of 30 needed for full housing and health benefits."

Ex-GOP lawmaker Adam Kinzinger, himself a veteran, also raised the issue on Sunday morning, writing, "So Trump put the national guard on 29 day orders?!" "Why does this matter: They don’t pay full housing allowance and no health insurance until 30 days," Kinzinger added. "What an abusive commander in chief. So Trump."

But paying Pardoned convicted prisoner treasonous thugs $80,000+ with $50,000 signing and bonuses per capture.
With a budget most other countrie’s militaries would love to have, From OUR and those Military people’s Taxes. Trump and most of his cabinet do not pay taxes.
Plus he fired every highest ranking officer of each branch. Then had soldiers on their knees laying red carpet for the worlds worst murdering dictator, a known enemy of our nation.
While fucking the VA more every day. The draft dodging coward. How the fuck can any active or vet accept this shit? I for one despise this shit. Instead of thanking me for service tell me you will never vote for a Republican again, and you hate this piece of shit CIC, and Miller, and Hogsbreath.

when he needs the military to have his way. I'm guessing this means he is writing off the National Guard and expecting ICE to defend him when the fighting starts?

I do hope he will manage to screw the army, the navy, and ICE too. That would be our salvation. Unlikely, but nothing has been likely so far, and he might be that stupid.

Add to that his steady mental decline and long history of disdain for the military, and this becomes quite the normal thing for him. Besides, he sees them as just pawns in his power game.
Why should he spend "his" money on them.

Note: I'm sure he feels that all the government's money is his money.

I'd publicize this until all members of the military branches know of this cheating of benefits. The Orange Pedophile can't maintain his dictatorship without the military. He totally disrespects the military. But, he'll need them to maintain his rule. He has weakened his control of them.

You don't do this if you want something from someone. You don't say, "Work harder for me, and I'll give you less." Right now, they are recruiting ICE to be his personal army, and offering huge sums of money to them. I doubt they'll ever see those rewards, but clearly, they are placed above our standing National Guard.

So, the best thing is to tell all the military what he has done. The rank and file should know this.

A self-identified veteran replied to Kinzinger, writing, "I’m an ex-Military guy too, and we all know this is the kind of BS thing that infuriates us."

"We swear an oath to the Constitution, not a man - and when a mere man abuses his power this way, we have every right to refuse an order we think is illegal," wrote the user, @EpicJourneyMan1. They added, "Before he pisses us off!"
