US greenlights nearly $330M military package for Ukraine

Source: The Hill

The U.S. approved a nearly $330 million package of military sales to Ukraine, including an extension of satellite communications services for its Starlink terminals and equipment and services to sustain its Patriot air defense systems.

The State Department revealed in a statement Friday that services to help maintain the Patriot systems will cost about $179.1 million — which entails spare parts, software updates, modification kits, communication equipment and other items.

“Implementation of this proposed sale will require approximately five U.S. Government and fifteen contractor representatives to travel to the United States European Command to support training and periodic meetings,” the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) said in the notice.

The State Department, in a separate statement, announced its approval for the sale of satellite communications services for Ukraine’s Starlink terminals, which also includes technical and logistics support services, with the cost expected to total about $150 million.

... equipment to refocus US policy in Ukraine.

Belgium just sent all their F-14s, they must have just sent in their POs for F-35s. Like Country Joe once sang, "plenty of good money to be made, supplying the army with the tools of the trade.

To be clear: I have no problem whatsoever supplying the Ukraine with everything they want short of nukes, but I have serious doubts about this administration motives and commitments. Has eLoon Musk made Starlink available to Ukraine again, yet?

Yep, definitely watch his motives. He might be doing the right thing, but never enough of it and never for the right reasons.
My theory: He's hedging his bets on what now looks like a Russia loss, and vying to take major credit for any Ukraine-EU victory over his Russia friend.

The only country still flying the F-14 Tomcat is Iran, the only other country then the US to get them back in the '70's.
The United States retired the F-14 Tomcat from active service in 2006.

To the American defense contractors. $179 million for 5 government and 15 contractors. I’m sure they are paying each contractor $250k or more to be there. The company execs pocket a lot of profit on those kind of deals.

Reminds me of the Kellogg Brown and Root days in Iraq. Mony flowing over contractors everyhere. So much so the regular Army guys couldn’t wait to get out and cone back as a contractor making three or four times as much.
