'Keep it peaceful,' Chicago top cop warns ahead of Trump National Guard deployment

Source: USA Today

Aug. 29, 2025, 7:24 p.m. ET

Chicago city leaders and Illinois officials are warning residents of the nation’s third-largest city to keep protests from getting out of hand if the Trump administration follows through on its promise to deploy the National Guard.

"When it comes to federal agents or the National Guard, these people work for the federal government and their rules of engagement are different," Chicago Police Superintendent warned at a news briefing on Aug. 27. "Keep it peaceful, try not to obstruct or become physical with federal agents or members of the National Guard."

The warning from the city’s top cop comes as Chicagoans expect the White House to bring its immigration crackdown to the city sometime after Labor Day.

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker warned Chicagoans to expect military checkpoints with "unidentified officers in masks while taking their kids to school." But he asked protesters to refrain from giving federal troops reason to engage. "I know you, Chicago," Pritzker said. "When you protest, do it peacefully, be sure to continue Chicago’s long tradition of nonviolent resistance."

and causing Chicagoans and leaders to become chronically angry and lose their patience, the felon's armed infiltrators who've already been in place, will make their move,
pull the trigger and otherwise cause violence to look like civilian mayhem.

The felon will immediately spread his headline claims that blue states are to blame for his unfortunate need to invoke martial law.

He's all about disrupting the 2026 election in solid blue and battleground states.

I just prefer the more recent use of the American mafia version, called "The Protection Racket" strategy of gaining control over what is really a much bigger country.

I *think* they are being forced to wait to sue until the proposed action "actually happens".

I.e., every time some entity attempts to "preemptively sue", the courts will throw the case out calling it "speculation" or "it hasn't happened yet (and might never happen) ".

I expect as soon as they set foot in there, the lawsuits will start flying.

Cops know a lot of harassment techniques, and they can be used on ICE:
Stop the vehicles, for suspicious activity, and possible drug transportation
Stop for speeding. Or going to slow, failure to use turn signal, no fully stopping at a light, etc. Busted tail light ..
Improper Vehicle registration and tag - if not legit, then tow it.
Demand full ID of the ICE agents, and take photos, run for warrants, etc.
Show firearm registration. (no proof, the gun gets confiscated)
Like wise for Taser and gas.
Impersonating a law officer.

And on and on...

particularly since there are so many criminals out there who are posing as "ICE" agents and are carrying out kidnappings, assaults and robberies.

than to see a big city police force give shit to the National Guard. It's what he's counting on. Pritzker is right to urge caution.

The cities he has invaded can show they have steadily decreasing crime already. trump is not smart enough to pull this off. I see Miller's evil hand at work.

In the not-too-distant future I expect all protests to be outlawed by an EO.
