GRAND ISLAND, Neb. U.S. Sen. Pete Ricketts touted ways the One Big Beautiful Bill would keep money in people's pockets, promoted expansion of the biofuel industry and celebrated deregulation efforts by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency over the course of a wide-ranging forum on federal issues Friday at the Nebraska State Fair.
About 200 people attended the forum, leaving standing room only in the fairgrounds venue.
Most appeared supportive of the senator, but when Ricketts said the One Big Beautiful Bill "set our country on the right course for generations," his detractors made themselves known, laughing aloud.
Over the next few minutes of Ricketts's remarks, the group of vocal attendees grew more agitated and amped up their heckling. Much of the crowd responded with applause to drown out the jeers.

Several people shouted disagreement with the senator's statements on the One Big Beautiful Bill before being told to leave or being escorted from the venue.
