Denmark summons US envoy after report of Americans carrying out influence operations in Greenland
Source: AP
COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) Denmarks foreign minister had the top U.S. diplomat in the country summoned for talks after the main national broadcaster reported Wednesday that at least three people with connections to President Donald Trump have been carrying out covert influence operations in Greenland.
Trump has repeatedly said he seeks U.S. jurisdiction over Greenland, a vast, semi-autonomous territory of Denmark. He has not ruled out military force to take control of the mineral-rich, strategically located Arctic island.
Denmark, a NATO ally of the U.S., and Greenland have said the island is not for sale and condemned reports of the U.S. gathering intelligence there.
Danish public broadcaster DR reported Wednesday that government and security sources which it didnt name, as well as unidentified sources in Greenland and the U.S., believe that at least three Americans with connections to Trump have been carrying out covert influence operations in the territory.

Don't let the regime here scare you, Denmark! You protect yours, as that orange gibbon would do if this situation were reversed.

(9,057 posts)I am not sure what, but there needs to be something. Some kind of censure or retaliation that can be done to all those insane MAGAts that keep on being bigoted fucks even when it became impossible to deny the evil that is the rethug party and that orange gibbon.
Maybe go with the 'Escape from New York' idea? Let them take over some city and surrounding area and then wall it off so they can just live their delusions in private and safely away from actual society?
I dunno.

U.S. president-elect Donald Trump has long been fascinated with owning and controlling Greenland, spanning from his interest in buying the country in 2019, to his recent refusal to rule out taking it by military force. Denmark's public broadcaster DR quoted sources as saying the aim was to infiltrate society and promote its secession from Denmark to the US, although it was unable to clarify who the men were working for.
A White House official would not confirm an influence campaign was underway, but said: "We think the Danes need to calm down."
Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said "any attempt to interfere in the internal affairs of the Kingdom [of Denmark] will of course be unacceptable".
