Wes Moore says Donald Trump made up "imaginary conversation"

Democratic Maryland Governor Wes Moore publicly disputed President Donald Trump's claim that Moore had praised him as "the greatest president" of his lifetime during a face-to-face encounter last year. Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Monday that Moore approached him at an Army-Navy football game, hugged him and delivered the compliment.
Moore responded to Trump's claim during a radio interview, calling it an "imaginary conversation" that "never happened." The Maryland governor later also posted on X saying "lol" and "Keep telling yourself that, Mr. President."
The White House has since pushed back on Moore's denial, with spokesperson Liz Huston telling Newsweek in an email: "Governor Wes Moore heaped praise upon President Trump behind the scenes after the President's landslide victory on November 5th. The only reason lightweight Wes Moore is attacking President Trump now is because he's desperate for attention and delusional enough to think he has a chance at becoming the next President. Wes should spend less time attacking President Trump and more time cleaning up the massive crime mess in Baltimore."
Moore's office countered by providing Newsweek with a video clip of the interaction between the governor and president, which does not appear to show Moore making those statements to Trump.

While the President is spending over a million dollars in tax payer money a day to keep up the performance of having the National Guard in D.C., hes also cutting funding that could actually make our communities safer.

(13,626 posts)She said, "Governor Wes Moore heaped praise upon President Trump behind the scenes after the President's landslide victory on November 5th." But there was no "landslide victory". TSF didn't even win a majority much less a landslide. Every time one of these people calls it a "landside", the press should correct them. It may seem a small thing to us but it's important to MAGAs to believe it was a landslide so they need to be reminded it was just a simple plurality. They are living in a fever dream and this landslide canard is a crucial tentpole, allowing them to believe that they have more support than they do. Otherwise, why do the enablers make sure to repeat this lie whenever possible?

Either Trump is lying outright, or we've got another Willie Brown Helicopter Substitution going on. The New York Times and Washington Post get to choose between lying and senile. They're going to choose "The essence of the story may have some merit..."

(1,798 posts)THAT'S ONLY TWO. Every fucking Dem governor, senator, congress member, mayor and fucking dog catcher should be going on TV and social media saying the same thing!
And don't tell me the media ignores them. Every single one of those Dems in power HAS the power to call a press conference or TV station or make social media posts like Wes Moore is doing. The vast majority are not doing anything other than a mild retort maybe once or twice.
We can't wait for the military occupation of EVERY blue city or state. All of them need to get more fuckin vocal NOW!

... for people to acknowledge the glaring and irrefutable fact that Trump has two motivations for his actions: Yes, it all serves his diseased desire to be a petty, vindictive tin-pot dictator, but it also serves Putin's oft-stated determination to destroy America from within without firing a shot, and he's getting all the help he needs from the terrorist organization that was once the Republican Party.
Putin chose his stooge very well, and groomed him very carefully. Trump has always been a malicious sociopath, a pathological liar, a thief, a malignant narcissist, and now a mass murderer keep in mind that Charles Manson, like Hitler, never killed anyone himself; he had others do it and quite a while ago, he added filthy fucking traitor to his resumé. But, apparently, no one that could and should call him out for it, has the balls to say, enough is ENOUGH! This illegitimate imposter of a president has betrayed his country, and everyone in it, and must be held accountable for it. And the same goes for all of his enablers. We have to make the Nuremberg Trials of 80 years ago look like slumber party, and take these evil fucks DOWN, once and for all.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

(169,809 posts)As Trump boasts about imaginary conversations and points to unnamed sources whove labeled him the president of Europe, there's cause for concern.
At a WH event, Trump shared imaginary details about a conversation with Wes Moore that didnât happen, embraced âthe president of Europeâ label, and falsely claimed he stopped 7 (and 10) wars.

As this week got underway, Trump once again brought up Moore at another White House event to share an odd story.
Trump: "I met him at the Army-Navy game. They said 'Oh, there's Gov. Moore, he'd love to see you.' He came over to me, he hugged me, he shook my hand. He said 'Sir, you're the greatest president of my lifetime.'"

......Moore, not surprisingly, mocked the strange tale. Im a person who takes my integrity very seriously, and I spent the past six months before that election campaigning as to why I did not think that he should be the next president of the United States, the governor told WBAL Radio. So when I say that conversation never happened, that imaginary conversation never happened, I mean that conversation never happened.
The Washington Post reported soon after:
Video taken at the game by a crew for a Trump documentary series on Fox Nation that Fox News clipped and aired Monday shows Moore welcoming Trump with a handshake and talking to him briefly about rebuilding the collapsed Key Bridge in Baltimore. In the footage, Moore tells Trump that, with federal funding, Maryland could reopen the bridge during the Trump administration. ... Moores spokesman told The Post the exchange captured on video was the only time Moore and Trump met that day.
In other words, Trump made up the Moore conversation, and he presented fiction as fact to the public. In fact, the Republican has repeatedly shared the details of conversations that only occurred in his overactive imagination......
Now hes boasting about imaginary conversations and pointing to unnamed sources whove labeled him the president of Europe.
As USA Todays Rex Huppke summarized, after Trump twice suggested he was headed to Russia when he was actually going to Alaska, Thats the sort of thing you hear before having to make a difficult decision about grandpas future. Huppke similarly recently described the president as being in obvious mental decline.
