Trump reportedly pointed finger at John Bolton before FBI raid as conservative media sounds alarm

Source: msn/The Independent

Weeks before the FBI raided John Bolton’s house, President Donald Trump made clear that his former national security adviser was a target of his second term.

Law enforcement agents raided Bolton’s home in Bethesda, Maryland and his Washington, D.C. office on Friday as part of an investigation related to classified documents, Vice President JD Vance confirmed. Bolton served as Trump’s national security adviser from 2018 to 2019 but has since become a vocal critic of the president.

On Friday, Trump said he wasn’t aware of the raids until after they happened. “I saw it on television this morning,” he said. The president added he “wasn’t a fan” of Bolton. “My house was raided also,” Trump told reporters, referring to the FBI raid of his Mar-a-Lago compound in 2022. “So I know the feeling. It’s not a good feeling.”

But sources close to Trump told The Washington Post that the president was irked by Bolton’s critical comments ahead of his Alaska summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The president also publicly took issue with Bolton’s remarks, calling him “really dumb” in a Truth Social post on August 13 — raising questions over the timing of the raid, which occurred just nine days after the social media post.

2. Two fold - sent a message and a revenge "raid"

Bolton was low hanging fruit. He’s not really aligned with anyone. Loved/hated by the right and left in different situations. Trump was sending a message that he can make anyone’s life hell (or at least expensive) with his weaponized FBI/DOJ/Govt.
Do Not Mock ME (the king 🙄 ) or you will pay.

He wanted to “raid” someone’s home to keep his struggle story alive. They flooded the media with the “RAID” on his house when we all know it was a predetermined negotiated serving of a warrant. The media of course complied with his BS.

He wanted to play strong and victim at the same time.

6. "Bolton was low hanging fruit. He's not really aligned with anyone."

Oh he's aligned alright. With the PNAC neocons who have so far been shoved under the bus but haven't gone away. The Rumsfeld/Cheney/Shrub crowd -

Partial list of people associated with the Project For The New American Century.

(snip)

Bolton, John R. - Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security.
History: Senior Vice President of the American Enterprise Institute. Assistant Secretary for International Organization Affairs for the Department of State under Bush Sr. Assistant Attorney General for the Department of Justice under Reagan.

(snip)

And who was the co-founder of that? Why Bill Kristol, who is a ranting and raving anti-45er.

But agree that this was done - in the same month in fact - as a tit-for-tat for the raid of Mar-a-Lago.

became the insider “in the room” who verified what was already abundantly clear- Trump is an idiot who’s completely out of his league. For that, he was a semi regular at least on CNN.

Everything is TV to Trump. He brought Bolton on because he made the right mouthwords and when he pushed back on Trump (his actual job) he was fired. Bolton then dared speak of Trump as if he were mortal with flaws and he had to become a target.

10. During the first term
Sun Aug 24, 2025, 10:26 AM

there was a revolving door of people who "pimped themselves" to join the administration so that THEY could "direct what was going on" and attempt to "reign 45 in". And every single one of those "opportunists" were shown the door.

The same thing happened for the 2nd term (e.g., Tulsi Gabbard, RFK Jr., & Elise Stefanik). They are all opportunists who have or might soon get the boot.

Since 45 didn't really dabble in the "internal politics" of his party, he had zero idea of who these people were (or cared) including Bolton, so he has no trouble ditching them. They are all just "the help".

And LOL @ the cartoon!

11. What scares me - the replacements

This group is 3rd string JV. There’s always some sort of attrition. Who the hell is going to replace these clowns? Who really wants to sign up for this now? As you said, the first term did have opportunists but there were some actual experienced non-boot lickers ( like “the generals”) but who now/next? The latest shining object he sees on Fox? Gorka? I just learned this week he’s back in the WH and has been the whole time.

God. What a mess.

And the neo-con's are pissed about it. But that's fine. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. We will oppose each other in time but not we're working together. I've done a lot of "nose holding" the last 10 years. I figure the Republic is worth it.

(Adam Schiff, Leticia Jones, others) conservative media didn't have a problem, but now that a repub con is being targeted, it's a problem? Gee, where did I leave my sympathy for cons? Oh yeah, it's in the dictionary.

..mishandling classified documents isn't that unusual. Unfortunately. And if they've got a warrant, this was certainly an option open to DoJ. Extreme perhaps, but a legal option. If Bolton made himself vulnerable in that manner, he had to know they'd take advantage of it.

Now, when they start arresting people simply for their rhetoric...different story entirely. So far it's just been some mean tweets and really laughable threats. If they do, most of the country will go ape shit. They no that. And that's why I keep screaming at them, calling their bluff on Newsom, Pritzker, etc. Just fucking do it and see what happens!!

They won't. Not yet perhaps. Maybe never. They don't think the country is ready for that. I don't think the country will ever be ready for that. We're not Belarus, Myanmar, Russia or Weimar Germany. Collectively, we've never known totalitarianism. Even in our mother country, it's been centuries. Our founders initially flipped out about some relatively minor taxes and regs that the British Parliament wasn't 100% wrong about. But it escalated out of control from there. I just don't think toleration of full on totalitarianism is in our DNA but we'll see.
