Chicago mayor slams Trump over possible crime crackdown: 'Uncalled for'

Source: The Hill

08/22/25 7:20 PM ET

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson (D) slammed President Trump over possibly sending the national guard to Chicago after his D.C. crime crackdown, calling the president’s plans to target the Windy City “offensive.”

“Certainly, we have grave concerns about the impact of any unlawful deployment of National Guard troops to the City of Chicago. The problem with the President’s approach is that it is uncoordinated, uncalled for, and unsound,” Johnson wrote in a Friday statement.

Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Friday that he would send the National Guard to other Democrat-run cities, including Chicago. “Chicago’s a mess. You have an incompetent mayor. Grossly incompetent and we’ll straighten that one out probably next. That will be our next one after this. And it won’t even be tough,” Trump said.

Crime rates have been down in Chicago, according to the city’s website. “Here’s the bottom line – as mayor of this city, and mayors across this country, we know exactly what it takes to drive down violence and crime in our cities because we’re actually doing it,” Johnson told Nexstar affiliate WGN.

The mayor takes steps to physically block the military from entering the city his words will mean nothing. Trump doesn’t care. The SCOTUS doesn’t care. MAGAts will cheer them on.

of those old movies (based on real-life events) where someone unwelcome coming to town was met by residents wielding shotguns, rifles, ax handles, whatever they could bring to bear.

Sounds like fun right now.

Notice how trump does not target Detroit or Michigan. We have a lot of Mexicans and Arabs here. I'm glad, but has trump been paid off?

Yet.

He hasn't mentioned cities like Phoenix either, which is a majority minority city.

But the criteria of this racist is to go after cities headed up by black, Hispanic, or Asian mayors, where Detroit, after many years, actually has a white mayor (as does Phoenix).

L.A., D.C., Chicago, & Philadelphia have black mayors and Boston has an Asian mayor.

One needs to think like a racist to determine their next steps.

However the Governor of Illinois is not only white, but also wealthier than Chump.

JB Pritzker has not held back his scorn and contempt of Chump, and I'm sure Pritzker will have Chicago's back well-covered. That's why I find it hard to believe that Chump would try to send his ICE goons (or his fake National Guard) there.

unless they are black, like MD (where I think he was also threatening Baltimore, which also has a black mayor).

He certainly ignored Newsom (who is a multi-millionaire) until Newsom got into his face like Pritzker.

But he's a single-focused racist and he's on a mission.

Justice matters.

So he doesn't care about anything, any law, any obstacle of his racist agenda.

It should be obvious by now. He pretends he will be running in 2028 to sell 'new' stupid hats.

and someone knowledgeable about "government" (which he surely is NOT) fed him info on what he could attempt to do for maximum reality show media exposure.

Of course, now Chicago has enough advance notice to prepare.

to use to use to bolster any suit for TRO from a judge if he attempts to go into Chicago. In the case of L.A, there were active protests in one small section of what is a sprawling city, that are pretty much missing in Chicago.

Los Angeles, plus it is a very different city. Too bad Trump doesn't wait until winter. Now that would be interesting.
