Hillary Clinton: Supreme Court 'will do to gay marriage what they did to abortion'

2016 Democratic presidential nominee and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says she believes the Supreme Court is poised to overturn its landmark ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, which effectively legalized same-sex marriage nationwide, and that unmarried same-sex couples ought to consider tying the knot.
American voters, and to some extent the American media, dont understand how many years the Republicans have been working in order to get us to this point, Clinton told Fox News host Jessica Tarlov on Friday in a wide-ranging interview on Raging Moderates, the podcast Tarlov co-hosts with Scott Galloway.
It took 50 years to overturn Roe v. Wade, Clinton said. The Supreme Court will hear a case about gay marriage; my prediction is they will do to gay marriage what they did to abortion they will send it back to the states.
Anybody in a committed relationship out there in the LGBTQ community, you ought to consider getting married because I dont think theyll undo existing marriages, but I fear they will undo the national right, she said.

(111,293 posts)I would assume they would have to "grandfather in" those gay marriages that were already officially filed. They have not (yet) tried to go after those women who had an abortion prior to the overturning of Roe v Wade in those states that subsequently made abortion illegal so one might think... Then again, SCOUTUS certainly doesn't seem to care about the chaos it creates in its wake.

(16,823 posts)That is, if democracy matters, and we still strive to "form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity,"...then yes, we have to fight for the rest of our lives.
Really, we're not being asked for much. We're not being asked to establish a beach-head while under enemy fire. We're not being asked to take a fortified hill. We're not being asked to charge across a field under heavy artillery fire.
No...NOT YET....
All we are required to do in this "lifelong" fight, is organize, tell our truth to friends, family, neighbors, fellow parishioners and coworkers ; and then get out and vote in more numbers than the MAGAts!
If we fail to "fight" in this peaceful way, and think we can take even ONE SECOND OFF from making our voices and our votes heard, then the fight will require blood and sacrifice.
Yes! We will need to "fight for the rest of our lives".
Up to us if that fight is under peaceful circumstances, or not.
VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's much easier than learning how to field strip an M1 rifle.

(14,205 posts)This ruling will energize the MAGA base....they need something to rally round and look " correct all along" image the Supreme Court will give them..... we are not into fair and just with equal rights atmosphere in USA at this time....
Why would the Supreme Court do this? Because they are not looking at applying the Constitution/ the law...it's all about the MAGA support...No one will hold them accountable anyway....not now anyways.
Maybe such a ruling will give us the motivation to fight like hell because we already lost everything....
