Trump admin 'caught in a lie' about massive IRS layoffs: reporter

Source: Raw Story

August 19, 2025 2:54PM ET

President Donald Trump's administration has been "caught in a lie" about its massive cuts to government agencies, including the IRS, CNN senior reporter Marshall Cohen reported Tuesday.

Cohen cited the release of a report from the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, which found that probationary IRS employees were terminated "without following internal procedures and considering individual performance."

"The Trump administration fired 7,300+ probationary IRS employees in February, with a termination letter stating: 'taking into account your performance... your continued employment... is not in the public interest,'" said Cohen. Of those, 51% of newer probationary employees "didn't even have a performance evaluation on record yet. And for the other employees who had been evaluated, 99% (!) were deemed 'fully successful' at their jobs, or better," Cohen added.

Being on probation doesn't mean that the employee did something wrong; rather, it means they're new and there is a probationary period before (sic)

No need for a reason to terminate.

Of course, lawsuits are an option, if expensive and time consuming.

Years ago, a friend was fired after a patient made a false accusation. No investigation, no counseling, no following the official procedures.

He just left, saying "I need to make a living. I don't have the time or money to fight it."

Everyone in this regime, from Mango Mussolini all the way down to the covfefe girl are pathological liars.

Still, good to document all the instances, for future reference.

5. Saying that someone was fired from their job would probably affect their chances of getting another job

Therefore it's really unfair that the Chump Administration claims these employees were "fired." What happened was they were laid off because of a change in policy, owing to the fact that Democrats lost the election and Repukes won.

It's not the fault of ANY of the federal employees who got laid off, it's just their bad luck. And ours.

6. Is this his way of making sure they don't qualify for EI? In Canada if fired for cause you might not qualify for EI

the IRS will have been obliterated, and the Republican Congress and USSC will establish a VAT tax, which is a huge sales tax on all purchases, which drastically effects those under the top 1% and is extremely regressive......

1) being only on purchases it is a minimal amount to the UBER rich.

2) it wipes out an incredible number of government employees, a massive permanent cut to the budget

3) AND wipes out entire businesses that he Uber rich loathe that they have to hire......Tax Accountants and Tax Lawyers saving them even more money.

They will point out that many other countries have a VAT tax, without pointing out that it gives them free education, free health care, much lower Rx prices, and much greater maternal leave and sick pay as well as much greater vacation time.....

But let's look on the bright side - over a million American families will never vote R again, for any reason.

that million and most others will not get to vote, even by 2026 midterm the way the Repubs are working on Dominating it corruptly.

The Jury is still out on them (musk) somehow corrupting the 2025 election results in the swing states. If so, the Republicans have it figured out already how to have control over the votes, and will be getting it mastered for a full roll out across the entire nation by November 2026......
Look no further than Trump already trying to eliminate Mail In Ballots, which includes the members of the Armed Forces, absentee ballots, and all the states that have Mail in ballots. They will be able to ELIMINATE any/all paper ballots which would provide the ability for investigation of fraudulent voting or enable re-counts.

In ANY case, regardless of the Law, the Supreme Court will take control of the elections of STATES as they did in Florida in 2000, when they corruptly "awarded" the presidency to WBush. Florida, by law, mandated the re-count and there was the highest probability that the Re-count would have shown Gore the winner. AND that is why the Supreme Court, unlawfully took charge and stopped the re-count.
The fact that the USSC stopped the re-count, is one thing. A far worse thing is that NOW the USSC has a "Legal Precedent" to justify interfering in any/all future elections, in ANY state, and determining the winner if needed.

The Republicans have been chipping away with rock hammers at this since corruptly, treasonously installing Reagan.
Now they are using countless giant excavators with huge jack hammers to go at it.........
