Trump Administration Is Said to Discuss US Taking Stake in Intel
Source: Bloomberg News:
"The Trump administration is in talks with Intel Corp. to have the US government potentially take a stake in the beleaguered chipmaker, helping support the companys effort to expand domestic manufacturing, according to people familiar with the plan.
The deal would help shore up Intels planned factory hub in Ohio, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the deliberations are private. The company had once promised to turn that site into the worlds largest chipmaking facility, though its been repeatedly delayed. The size of the potential stake isnt clear.
The plans stem from a meeting this week between President Donald Trump and Intel Chief Executive Officer Lip-Bu Tan, the people said. The idea is for the US government to pay for the stake and details are being sorted out, one of the people said. Another cautioned that the plans remain fluid.
Intel declined to comment on discussions. In a statement, a representative said the company is deeply committed to supporting President Trumps efforts to strengthen US technology and manufacturing leadership.

This is NOT capitalism. It is what totalitarian governments do like China and Russia.

This is breaking news. Please refresh for updates.
I am a beleagured INTC shareholder. I just looked at their lifetime chart. Intel is back to about where it was eleven years ago. They can't seem to get that old spirit back.

(4,443 posts)called for the Intel CEO's resignation, and now is praising that CEO, and wants the government to take a stake in Intel, is having Nvidia and AMD to each give 15% of their profits to the U.S.
If any Democratic pulled this crap the republicans would be calling them every name in the book.
Ever since Andy Grove left, INTC has had issues.
