Alex Jones’ Infowars will go up for sale yet again, judge rules

By Hadas Gold

Alex Jones’ far-right platform Infowars can be sold once again to help pay the more than $1 billion he owes the families of Sandy Hook shooting victims, a Texas district court judge has ordered.

Judge Maya Guerra Gamble said in a Wednesday hearing that Infowars’ parent company, Free Speech Systems, will be turned over to a court-appointed receiver, who will be responsible for selling the assets and using the proceeds to pay Jones’ debts to the Sandy Hook families. … The order paves the way for The Onion to revive its bid for the conspiracy-driven outlet and its assets.

Last year, the satirical news outlet had initially won a court-mandated auction for Infowars’ parent company, backed by the Sandy Hook families. However, in December, a federal bankruptcy judge halted the sale, citing concerns with the auction process and disputes over the bids. The judge later said the families should pursue what they’re owed in state court rather than at the federal level.

Jones was found guilty in 2022 for defamation after repeatedly claiming on-air that the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre, in which six adults and 20 children were killed, was a “hoax.” He has yet to pay a single cent of the more than $1 billion in damages he owes the families.

Hope that some big benefactors (e.g., gun control advocate and billionaire Michael Bloomberg) will help The Onion to win the bid.

Oh and good morning!

The only dispute that I could see was that he did not want his baby to be bought by the same people who fought him the entire time.

Not only that, but it seems that some of the current regime would prefer to try and keep some entities from being able to even bid on it.

Face it, they are waiting till some loyal plebe makes an acceptable offer and then that new entity will just put his sorry ass right back in the chair. They will accept no other bid or attempt at purchase.

I have been friends with the Bankstons for almost 20 years. Susan Bankston aka Juanita Jean posted this on facebook this morning

Finally, we may be seeing Alex Jones sliding straight into hell on his big fat Trump butt. It’s been a three year crazy - sincerely insane - battle in Federal Bankruptcy Court where the Jones estate has only been distributed to bankruptcy lawyers.
Finally, they got it out of the federal courts and back into Texas District Court where it all started.
NPR was in court today in Austin and got a quote from that lawyer we all know and love.
“The families are pleased that the court has placed InfoWars parent company into receivership, which will finally lead to accountability for Alex Jones' monstrously cruel harassment" said Mark Bankston, one of the attorneys for the families.
“Judge Maya Guerra Gamble's order in Travis County, Texas district court appointing a receiver, Gregory Milligan, may herald a quick end to Jones' long run under his Infowars brand.”
There’s lots of good information in the story for those breathing a sigh of relief today. Mark’s friend Avi (corrected due to mental instability in my head) Moshenberg, the bankruptcy lawyer representing the cases in Texas court, did an outstanding job of making this happen.

This article really made me smile

This time it might be for real.

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones could soon be forced to stop airing his Infowars show and give up the company's property, including everything from desks and microphones to the Infowars brand name.

A state judge in Texas Wednesday ordered Infowars' assets to be turned over to a newly-appointed state receiver, who will sell them to pay the families of the Connecticut children killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. They won a $1.3 billion defamation case against Jones after he spread bogus conspiracies that the shooting never happened and the grieving families were actors. His listeners harassed the families for years.

The move paves the way for the receiver — or sheriffs — to start the process of seizing cash and property owned by Infowars and its parent company, Free Speech Systems, within days. The families, who've spent some three years in federal bankruptcy court trying to collect what Jones owes them, could start seeing their first payouts through the state court in weeks or months.
