USDA moves to end employee union contracts, documents show

WASHINGTON, Aug 13 (Reuters) - The U.S. Department of Agriculture moved on Tuesday to terminate union contracts with thousands of employees of its animal health and food safety inspection agencies, according to documents seen by Reuters.

The notices sent to union leaders at the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and Food Safety and Inspection Service said the action was aligned with President Donald Trump's March executive order to exclude some federal workers from collective bargaining because their agencies have national security missions, the documents show.

The Trump administration also has moved to end union contracts at the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Veterans Affairs and other agencies under the executive order. "USDA is optimizing our workforce and returning the Department to a customer service focused, farmer first agency," an agency spokesperson said. "This move will allow us to be a much more nimble as well as an attractive employer."

About 6,500 food and consumer safety inspectors at FSIS were covered by the terminated collective bargaining agreement, said Paula Soldner, chairperson of the National Joint Council of Food Inspection Locals, part of the American Federation of Government Employees. FSIS employees inspect meat, poultry and egg products to assess quality and prevent foodborne illness.

2. USDA has a "national SECURITY mission" -- Pure interpretation by the felon in his executive order.

He sprinkles "national security" around when he wants to abscond with employees' paychecks.
If federal unions haven't been disbanded, they've got a shot at challenging him in court, so that he has to produce the evidence to prove
a) what constitutes 'national security' and 'mission' in the USDA (recall that Cheney opined that"food is a weapon" ), and
b) that USDA workers are an essential part of both definitions, although
c) the union was already formed during all the time the evidence existed, and thus, itself, could be called "essential" to any USDA national security mission.

The long game is Project 2025's goal -- to privatize government. He's being horse whispered by Vought who's being horse whispered by Charles Koch, who's owner of the largest private industry in the US.

4. Right. And he doesn't say there's any such "emergency" in the USDA. So this just falls in line with his other EO's

He does this to poison the national food supply, to kill more domestic exports... what country in the world would willingly import food they can't trust as being "good"... let alone, nutritious. And to kill us in thousands of different ways, overt and covert. Think of all the fungus infested federal buildings, for example. It took our union to finally get the govt to shut down and send everyone home to work, so that they could remediate the mold levels in the building I used to work in about 10 years ago. This same building used to house the Buffalo Soldiers barracks, and before that, was the horse stables. There are so many ways to harm workers and civilians alike without unions watching our backs.
