"No Age Limit" for Americans to Join ICE Law Enforcement, Secretary Noem Says
Less than one week since DHS launched recruitment campaign, more than 80,000 Americans applied to join ICE
By Homeland Security Today August 6, 2025
U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem today announced U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will waive age limits for new applicants to join ICE in its mission.
All ICE law enforcement recruits will be required to go through medical screening, drug screening, and complete a physical fitness test.
"We are ENDING the age cap for ICE law enforcement," said Secretary Noem. "Qualified candidates can now apply with no age limit. JOIN.ICE.GOV."
Backed by new funding through the recently signed "One Big Beautiful Bill", ICE is offering a package of federal law enforcement incentives, including:

Say what you will, but Republicans are pretty consistent in their attitude that children should be treated as consenting adults.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem just announced she's removing the age limit for ICE applicants, which allows literal teenagers to now apply. What could possibly go wrong?

(37,043 posts)I want every single one of their names.
That's a good place to find people who are not allowed to vote, hold office, or work at any level of government for the following 20 years.
Had we done this after the C.W. - we wouldn't be where we are right now. And I'm being generous with 20 years. I'd prefer 40 or when they die. We can build whatever America we want when the Dictatorship is over. Never this way pass again.
I look at Germany and how their system is designed to hold back a 4th Reich - and it boggles my mind when well-meaning Dems want to play nice with our Domestic Enemies.

(37,043 posts)The UN, NATO, etc. etc. they've never come to the defense of any marginalized group in America before.
They will have no choice but to stand down. I will only support politicians now that are in favor of extreme punishment of the dictatorship - and that includes HSI/ICE.

(37,043 posts)We returned to the status quo.
Harris is right - the system is broken.
If we break it a little bit more - we can build what we want. We the People- not someone giving platitudes about coming together.
That mentality gave us Jim Crow. Nope - we aren't going back.

(2,003 posts)do it. Frankly, I haven't seen any reason to believe it, particularly given the response (or lack thereof) to an attempted violent overthrow of the government. Nuremberg-style trials seem like a distant possibility here when all of this fascism has been presented as a mere "difference of opinion" that much of the public supports, either actively or inactively.
But I'd love to see it.

(45 posts)Started when it was still US Customs. Back in the olden days, if you applied and lived in the north, you were assigned to the southern borders and visa versa. Kept everyone relatively honest (always a few bad apples). It took a year or more for the background and psychological checks. Then there was six weeks at the Academy. Rudimentary Spanish was mandatory for everyone. And you were expected to flesh that out to fluency (with help, of course). This all changed after we came under the DHS umbrella, which was a cluster fark from the beginning. No more having to change from the border you were from. No more transfers to other sites to keep one honest. Want to stay at the southern border for 20 years? Thats cool now. Tough? Yeah. It was supposed to be. How is DHS Barbie supposed to keep all the felons, nutcases, those unwilling to do their jobs in a sane manner, the easily corruptible from going hog wild? Oh, theyre supposed to be jackbooted thugs. I forgot for a moment.
