Former U.S. Rep. Beto ORourke urged Nebraska Democrats to take the gloves off and fight ruthlessly to win power during a spirited town hall Tuesday night.
For about 90 minutes, ORourke repeatedly elicited raucous cheers from more than 500 people who gathered inside a conference center on the University of Nebraska at Omahas Scott Campus to listen to the Texas Democrat.
For too long, ORourke said, Democrats have always been more focused on coloring inside the lines and being right at the expense of being in power, unlike their Republican counterparts. Without being in power, ORourke said, Democrats will not be able to help everyday Americans on issues including raising the federal minimum wage from $7.25 per hour, health care and affordable housing.
Unless we get serious about power and I think we have to be absolutely ruthless in our pursuit of it were going to see bad things happen to good people across this country, ORourke said in an interview.

(3,397 posts)No more capitulations.
No more going along to get along.
No more waiting them out.
No more surrendering in advance.
No more being polite and nice to raging fascists and criminals.
No more high road as default policy. Getting the high road treatment has to be earned by the opposition.
These vermin are stealing the country right out from under the American people. We are virtually at war. We need to start acting like patriotic warriors.
Just sent an email to Senator Pete Ricketts after watching him explain how Nebraska is in the running for the next immigrant detention center. Email was denied. The site no longer accepts emails and any comments will have to be mailed in via the post office. Called his Omaha office and suprisingly a person answered stating he had not heard of this email thing . He did tell me Ricketts will make a public appearence at the state fair in September. Keeping track so the trust fund boy feels the heat
