Epstein scandal broadens as trove of letters from famous figures published

The long-running scandal surrounding the disgraced late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein broadened on Tuesday after the New York Times published a trove of previously unseen letters to Epstein from numerous powerful figures as well as unseen photographs from inside his Manhattan mansion.

The letters, written to Epstein by a number of high-profile individuals, were reportedly compiled as a birthday gift for Epstein’s 63rd birthday in 2016. Their publication comes amid intense speculation around Donald Trump’s ties to Epstein, who was found dead in a New York jail in 2019 and had long cultivated a celebrity social circle of the rich and powerful.

In one letter, former prime minister of Israel Ehud Barak and his wife wrote “there is no limit to your curiosity.” “You are like a closed book to many of them but you know everything about everyone,” they wrote, describing Epstein as “A COLLECTOR OF PEOPLE”. They continued: “May you enjoy long and healthy life and may all of us, your friends, enjoy your table for many more years to come.”

In a letter from film-maker Woody Allen, Allen reminisced about Epstein’s dinner parties at his Upper East Side townhouse and described the gatherings as “always interesting”. He noted that the parties included “politicians, scientists, teachers, magicians, comedians, intellectuals, journalists” and “even royalty”. Allen also described the dinners as “well served”: “I say well served – often it’s by some professional houseman and just as often by several young women” who he said reminded him of “Castle Dracula where Lugosi has three young female vampires who service the place.”

Just because many people were at parties with the guy doesn't mean that they were involved or knew about his illegal activities. Guilt by association can be a little too easy for some people.

Epstein did this for a long time, and after a short while, that kind of reputation gets around. I have no doubt that it snared a few Democrats (Bill Clinton being an obvious one), and frankly he's effectively been retired for a long time. The problem is that people still associate with him after that reputation began to circulate. At some point, you have to start asking whether this association was an indictment of character.

But to plan it would mean you'd have to have it all in one place at once, and then you'd have to have a planner coordinate the actual drip drip drip.

Yesterday I tried to post something I saw at Bluesky but I couldn't get it posted. It was by Medvedev. He told Trump they had a trove of info on him and there is no reason he should expect they would not be releasing such info.

The whole section on "my wife" Soon-Yi training and badgering and bullying Epstein into providing a proper meal (at one point it was a Chinese buffet) is maximum creep zone and reads like it is something else being "served," not food.

Extremely disturbing.

Also, what the fuck is up with Noam Chomsky being buddy-buddy with this guy?

Follow the money and connect the dots…..

This is all so much bigger than any of us can really get a grasp and the number of people who participated.

You got letters. So what? Someone wrote a simple letter about a dinner. Proves nothing.

Stick to fact-finding of his criminality.
Show me the evidence that Epstein provided young teen girls to TRUMP!
Show me the evidence Trump - repeatedly - raped those girls.

Then prosecute him!

Prepare the way. Work the audience until we do have something with teeth.

Perception is half the fight, maybe more so. Trump would never have been in office without the decades-long smear campaign against Bill and Hillary Clinton.

I'm the type of person who is easily skeeved out by most people. I have a supersensitive grossometer. I'm happily just not that social so I'm intrigued at how people with images to protect are so easily taken in by others just because they have lots of money and a little charm. That to me is a red flag.

I guess he was probably more of a client than an acquaintance.
