The House Oversight Committee has subpoenaed the Justice Department for files related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a major move that comes as many congressional Republicans call for more transparency around the case.
Demands for more information on Epstein has roiled Capitol Hill in recent weeks. The subpoena amounts to a show of defiance by some Republicans against House Speaker Mike Johnson - who has attempted to tamp down congressional efforts to push for the release of the so-called Epstein files, instead arguing President Donald Trump's administration should have time to act on the issue.
This story is breaking and will be updated.

The House Oversight Committee has subpoenaed former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for testimony regarding Jeffrey Epstein, Fox News Digital has learned. Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., sent a flurry of subpoenas related to Epstein on Tuesday morning, with the Clintons being just two of the people that House investigators are looking to hear from.
Comer also sent a subpoena to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for records related to Epsteins case. Others who are being compelled to appear are former FBI directors James Comey and Robert Mueller, as well as ex-Attorneys General Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, William Barr, Jeff Sessions, and Alberto Gonzales.Hillary Clinton is being compelled to appear on Oct. 9, and Bill Clinton on Oct. 14, according to letters sent to both of them, respectively.

(38,654 posts)... however I'm curious to hear what Bill Barr and Robert Mueller will say on the subject of Epstein.
As far as I know Mueller had no interest or reason to look for evidence in Epstein's activities, since Mueller was narrowly focused on the 2016 election (election fraud and/or possible Russian involvement.)
Barr, on the other hand, could well have examined the documents, hard drives and videos that were taken from Epstein's "Pedo" island as well as the NYC mansion that was raided immediately after Epstein's arrest. Did he tamper with the evidence while he was AG? I guess we'll never know, but he doesn't have any reason to protect Chump anymore.

(128,722 posts)There are tons of photos of Epstein with Donald Trump. You're probably going to have to dig or use AI for any pictures of him with the Clintons.
Oh and Gym Jordan is on the committee. We all know how concerned he is for the victims of sex abuse.

President Trump's former Labor Secretary Alex Acosta was not one of the former government officials subpoenaed Tuesday by the House Oversight Committee over the Jeffrey Epstein probe.
Why it matters: As a federal prosecutor in 2008, Acosta approved a highly controversial non-prosecution agreement that allowed Epstein to serve minimal time in prison and shut down the federal investigation into his alleged sex trafficking ring.
