A statewide poll found that a majority of Maine residents dont believe Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) deserves to be reelected.
The University of New Hampshire and the American Association of Public Opinion Research reported that 71 percent of survey takers said they dont think Collins should return to Washington in the next election cycle, while 21 percent of people said she deserves another term and 8 percent are unsure or have no opinion.
Collins has been a fierce critic of President Trumps new tariffs and has voted against GOP measures in the upper chamber, siding with Democrats in their fight to ensure funds for Medicaid are not reduced.
As a result, more than half of Republicans in her home state, 53 percent, said the lawmaker should not be reelected; 40 percent still have faith in her leadership, and 6 percent dont know or are neutral.

(20,306 posts)The south, District 1, Portland, etc., where most of the state's population resides, is as blue as most New England areas. D+11 per Cook. The north is a ginormous district compared to District 1, thinly populated other than Lewiston, Bangor and Augusta, and relatively red. Potato land. Jared Golden's District 2. But still, it's only R +4 by recent estimates, so not really magatville. Heck, even here in Vermont we've got a smattering of Republicans. Particularly the extremely rural northeast and few other scattered enclaves.
