Source: UPI
Police on Tuesday released body camera footage and surveillance video of yesterday's shooting at a Tennessee Christian school, where six people and the shooter were killed.
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department released the graphic footage from the body cameras of Officers Rex Engelbert, a 4-year veteran, and Michael Collazo, a 9-year veteran, who fired on the shooter.
As fire alarms ring out, the video shows the officers running up a stairwell and then confronting the shooter.
The officers fired several shots, killing the suspect, whose body is shown laying on the ground at the end of the footage.

(3,505 posts)Whether it deters future shootings was secondary in the minds of these officers. There were children in immediate peril, and their job was to neutralize it.
As always, I'd have preferred that the shooter had been taken alive. The shooter's actions made that impossible.

(2,508 posts)People would be spreading stories about cops just standing around, or making claims they just shot this poor person in cold blood just because they were trans, or that they put babies in danger somehow, or that the whole story is a hoax and that there was no shooter or victims and cops never shot anyone.
Also glad it was released for another reason, I hope it scares the hell out of the next nut job who imagines going down in a blaze of glory will be some amazingly triumphant moment.
