I REALLY wish I'd live long enough to be able to say "I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!"

to all the idiots who have been saying tRump isn't a real concern to the continuation of our democracy and to relax, wait for the midterms and other such BS!

Unfortunately, I will not be able to. And I REALLY, REALLY want to!!!!! It's sort of like Woodward and Bernstein but this is 101% worse! They were able to live long enough to see Nixon destroyed. Times are very different. It sucks being alert, aware and current politically in 2025. We Dems have a clear perspective and the future is not pretty.

NO KINGS!!! Oct 18th in over 2,100 cities. We can still fight!

Call your reps. Call the GOP reps even if you do not belong in their district. I pretend I am a constituent using addresses I look up from Zillow in GOP districts across the US and it works!!! I have literally called hundreds of them since 2017 and this method is great. I must give credit to a person I met at an anti-tRump protest in 2017 and it saves a ton of time. I can find a Congresscritter's district, go to Zillow real estate listings for that very specific area and when I call the staffers at the offices of the GOP I have an actual address to give to them if they ask, pretending to be a GOP local constituent. They rarely do. It takes less than 5 minutes to do the entire process of Zillow and phoning!

A family member worked as a staffer for my local CA rep when she was in DC and she confirmed that the staffers DO take note of what callers are saying and they relay the info. I talk super fast, I'm extremely passionate and I do not give the staffer much time to respond since I want to end the call yet record my opinion ASAP! The less time they have to ask me anything, the better. My anger and passion are enough. And I really do end up in years most of the time.

Actually, I really wish I am wrong and all the happy folks out there will tell me, "We told you so" and they are RIGHT! But that is not realistic.

Do you know what I mean. I don't want to see this hellish landscape every damn day I wake up. I wish I were wrong in my observations and knowledge. I wish I could turn my mind off and listen to elevator music in my brain, but that is just not who I am.

I'm glad you're going to the protest. I'm still holding off on making one side of my normal 2-sided sign. With all the new crap (aka distractions) to deal with every day I am waiting until right before the protest to complete side 2. I'm saw an i age posted on DU of a big hand with a huge bruise on it with "HOPE" written under it. I find it lends a bit of jest to a solemn mood.

There are so many newer members I should post it more frequently.

Sometimes I prefer getting a recorded message in place of an actual staffer. Both DO relay the opinions to the govt official's office where they DO take them seriously. I prefer leaving a message, knowing it will get sent to their elected official since I really do sincerely get very upset and it takes a lot out of me. I have learned that they take my opinion more seriously when I tell them that I am a teacher and all of my co-workers, friends and family feel the same way about the tRump admin. That means my opinion is shared by other like minded constituents. Also, they seem to respect teachers a lot.
Even though I had to stop teaching in 2013 (due to my classroom harming my respiratory system) I WAS a teacher for almost 20 years in a Dem city and my co-workers, friends and family DO share my opinions and views. They need to hear that I am not representing the views of a single American but as a group of many Americans...more clout that way.

I wouldn't know this if it weren't for 1st hand info from a relative who worked for my local Dem congressman at his DC offices during tRump's first term. I have learned a lot over 8 years and when I hit on something that helps our team I am all in...101%! We need to share what works in both our individual AND group resistant practices.
