The older I get, the more I hate the heat.

(179,639 posts)Upper 80s now in Chicago, and the humidity is terrible. We're under a heat warning as the next three days are supposed to be 95.

(179,639 posts)This place has a lot of western exposure so it can get warm in here, even with the AC running.

(2,436 posts)I remember Iowa as being waaaaay hotter in the summers than we get in Florida, but we topped out at 91 yesterday and it really *is* the humidity thatll get you
Enjoy your 85.

Im saving my complaining for the below zero in 7 months.

Even though it's going to be the same outside the body as inside the body.

BUt in the past 3 weeks mornings have been rather cold. It's hard to get out and work in shirt sleeves at 55 degrees. I just assume the weather will not be good, have sweatshirts, shorts and t-shirts stashed in the shed at the farm and I do my best to pace myself to parallel demads of the weather.
It's OK to dislike weather, just wait a while and it will be rather more typical
Tomorrow will be more hot... so I plan to start around 5am. It'll be humid but in the low 70s

(55,768 posts)No one has A/C and those who do say it's too expensive to use. The humidity makes it worse. Climate Change is the cause and the cities aren't able to naturally cool down a lot at night.
If it's over 90°F I am miserable. Having lived in NYC and Philly when there was a heatwave I have great empathy for them.
A deadly heatwave in 1911 in the Northeastern cities killed hundreds of horses (before cars) and hundreds of people while also melting and warping railroad ties. People slept outside to get some relief, on apt building roof tops and in city parks, like they are doing in France now. "Hot town, Summer in the City" is no joke.

(65,984 posts)Supposed to be 2 days of 100 degrees plus here. I used to tolerate cold better, but now I dislike both.
