How many pancakes does it take to cover a doghouse?

The answer is "None, because ice cream doesn't have bones."

I remember this riddle from when I was a child in grade school, long, long, ago. Some of you might remember it as well. There are variations of it on the Web and it appears to have gained popularity at the time, simply because it made no sense. AI says "This is a classic absurdist or "nonsense" riddle. The question about pancakes and a doghouse is intentionally silly to distract the listener, and the punchline is a complete non-sequitur meant to make kids laugh."

Well, it seems Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito likes this type of riddle because he has offered his own version.

Supreme Court bars 'vampire rules' on gun ownership

The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that states cannot require gun owners to get permission from property owners before bringing guns onto their land.

In a 6-3 ideologically divided decision, the high court said that requiring permission in advance is an undue burden on the right to possess and carry a firearm.
...
Justice Samuel Alito, writing for a conservative supermajority, drove a stake through the laws by deciding that this "regime hobbles what the Second Amendment protects: the right of Americans to carry arms for self-defense as they go about their daily lives."

For reference, The Second Amendment:
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

So the riddle goes like this:
"How do we know the Second Amendment protects the right of Americans to carry arms for self-defense as they go about their daily lives."

Answer: "Because a well regulated Militia is necessary to the security of a free State."

would've eaten all the pancakes, so you'd never get it covered. She was a pancake-snarfin' MACHINE! They never touched the floor around her.
