Trump on Venezuela

If Trump is serious about helping Venezuela with aid and rescue and recovery personnel after the earthquakes, wouldn’t it be a good time to remove the draconian sanctions we have imposed on Venezuela since 2005? These sanctions were expanded significantly in 2019, during Trump I. These sanctions have largely isolated the Venezuelan economy, and have left their citizens impoverished. Somehow, Trump’s offer of $150 million in aid doesn’t seem quite so generous.

Part of Trump’s recent tariff scheme has been to charge an additional 15% on all countries that trade with Venezuela
