(2,753 posts)It was why a lot of RW people came around to voting for Trump that year even though they didnt like him in the primary. Trust me as I live around and know a lot of RWers.

(60,822 posts)I fiund his action ten years ago to be detrimental to Hillarys candidacy, and was terrified most of all what it might mean for the Supreme Court if she were to lose. Of course no one in the summer of 2016 thought she would losewith one major exception: my wife, who isnt even American.
She saw TV screens in airports, etc., showing nothing but anti-Hillary speeches 24/7 (almost exclusively CNN, no Fox), and she said then: you Americans might be in for a big, ugly surprise. Your media is burying Hilary and giving their airtime to her opponents. She is in trouble and none of you realize it.

(60,822 posts)Ironically, the one I was thinking of probably ultimately DID vote for Hillary. I would hope, anyway.

(29,443 posts)A journalist tells a story about interviewing someone shortly before they announced running for president. She realizes the candidate didn't know how to get what they talked about done and quickly became irritable and brusque when asked for more details. The journalist had been told that this person doesn't know anything. She agreed with that assessment. (The journalist was terribly harassed online for her reporting that year to the point of real fear -- which we are assured was all in our imagination.)

(29,443 posts)that's why he won, whereas Democrats are out-of-touch and too busy partying with donors, enjoying fancy cocktails and horse d'erves. One guess as to who broke America.
I get a headache even thinking about it. Then I come here and see post after post trying to make us scared of a few Democratic centrists. Ooooooh, centrists. How terrifying.

(1,385 posts)We were blissfully unaware pre-computers. WTH CARES what some jerk in Boondoggle, Alabama, thinks?!
2.) Nobody is "afraid" of Centrist Democrats, at least, not if they're like me: dismayed; disappointed; disdainful. No guts, no glory. No D-Day. No New Deal. No NASA. No Medicare.
Why did the chicken cross the road? So as not to get run over in the middle of it.

I'm not saying we should give up on women's rights, hell no, we should double down on equal rights and quit pandering to people who will never support us.

(14,748 posts)That argued against the importance of the court with both the election of Hillary and also with Al Gore.
The We want something that is not on the menu crowd brought us here.
They are setting up the pins to do it again.
Party unity is more important than ever before because the house is on fire.
We can argue about the color of the curtains later.

(1,385 posts)HOW COULD ANY DEMOCRAT ARGUE "AGAINST THE IMPORTANCE OF THE COURT" REGARDING AL GORE, CONSIDERING THE 2000 SCOTUS DECISION FOR BUSH?!
Unless you refer to irrelevancies as Sarandon and non-Democrats as Nader, neither of whom loom in any manner any more.

(14,748 posts)MANY of my liberal friends did not want to vote for Gore and did not
even after many arguments for the court. SAME SHIT with the I just dont like her crowd and Hillary.
We self sabotaged both times because of the I want something else crowd.
the SCOTUS was not enough reason.
Has the party learned that lesson?
Party unity is the number one consideration in a Presidential election. You cant win without it. That is my point.

(324 posts)The GOP controlled SCOTUS started this nightmare in 2000 with their anti-democracy, unconstitutional coup known as the Bush vs Gore ruling. This is why our country suffers so terribly today. Anyone who ignores this ugly truth is living in an alternate universe.
