NY-10: Cafe Tells Congressman (D) He's Not Welcome Because of His Stance on Israel

A small coffee shop chain in New York City created a firestorm with a provocative social media post condemning a congressman who visited one of its branches on Sunday, further underlining tensions over support for Israel in one of New York’s most progressive and predominantly Jewish congressional districts.

The congressman, Dan Goldman, visited Poetica Coffee in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, outside his district, with his 7-year-old daughter on Sunday, the last day for voters to cast early ballots in a Democratic primary race where he is facing a strenuous challenge.

Hours later, Poetica put up an Instagram post that appeared to be written by the shop’s owner that made it clear, in harsh language, that he was unwelcome there.

“We see that you stopped by our shop today for a coffee,” the caption reads under a photo of Mr. Goldman looking at his phone in front of the shop’s cash register, an image that appeared to have been taken from a surveillance camera. “Do you see how it doesn’t taste like genocide juice? Or are you still having a hard time telling the difference?”

An excellent Congressman.

He's had a lot to offer our Democracy.. from the J6 Committee to challenging Fascists in Congress. If he loses, I'll be sorry to see him go.

And the story would end quite differently for these two - also Jews. Funny that.

It's pretty simple - people don't like genocide, especially those TARGETING children.

Anyone not clear on the genocide aspect, or the targeting of children, should read about the medieval horrors inflicted on Palestinians, especially their children. This new report I saw today lays it all out for any remaining sceptics out there and I would encourage them to read it.

At this late stage, anyone still equating revulsion at carrying out or funding a genocide with "support for Hamas" is engaging in some interesting pretzel-forming, to say the least. For what purpose I can't imagine.

Dan Goldman has been a good Congressman and a good Democrat.

When did antisemitism become AOK among the far left?

about who they're supporting and why. One of their reasons for being opposed to Democrats in general is they've failed to rein in Trump. Well . . . duh. Numbers count. When you're in the minority, you can pretty much do Jack Squat. I feel as if it's happening all over again, just like the last presidential election. People wouldn't vote for Kamala because she supposedly wasn't pro-Palestine. They voted for Trump instead or didn't vote at all or wrote someone in and we all know what happened in Gaza as a result. Now we've got a bunch splitting the Democratic vote because Democrats supposedly are doing nothing to curb Trump. Wash, rinse, repeat. When will they get it through their heads we are, in the end, a two-party system and the side that gets sliced and diced loses.
