Iran stretched out negotiations with Carter

They are doing likewise now. And of course Israel isn't leaving Lebanon, either.

Meanwhile oil reserves are being drawn down. At some point, things will really break.

They did it on the request of the Reagan / Bush campaign with promises to ensure that Carter would not be re-elected.

The Guardians of Pedophiles have always put party before Country.

I think that was more the work of Reagan's VP pick, Bush the Elder, the former head of the CIA and of a family that was involved in oil.

6. I don't see why or how anyone would bother negotiating with Trump,

given his continual lying and flip-flopping. The only way to be sure what you've got with him is if you have substantial, physical leverage, such as control over the Suez Canal. And if you've got that, what do you need to negotiate for?

Trump's been burning through every source of leverage we had, and wasting most of it.

They want Israel to cut the genocidal imperialism.

The US just happens to be in the middle, like a pimp.

8. I think in this case it's for these reasons:
Sun Jun 21, 2026, 05:47 PM

1. Iran to Trump: "You're an idiot, and we'll be glad to help you with what you do best."
2. Iran has its status quo whether there's a deal or not.
3. Trump/US can wither away as oil reserves dwindle and there are gas lines with $6.00/gallon prices (to start).
4. Iran helping Israel become a pariah state, more than it could have done by itself.

10. About #3
Sun Jun 21, 2026, 05:58 PM

For decades our oiligarchs told us we had to drill and pollute our public lands to give us "energy independence". Currently, the US exports a huge fraction of what it mines.

What happened to our vaunted "energy independence"? They're telling us we MUST pay these high gas prices because "it's a global market, you idiots".

We keep falling for it over and over and over...

Sun Jun 21, 2026, 11:40 PM

We are pulling 8 million barrels a week from reserves.
Both futures and ready to ship oil has falling pricing. WTI is at $75 today. You are seeing it at the pumps in gasoline already. I filled up at $3.15 today.

We have good inventories of crude. China has reserves through 2026.

We are going to have a glut of oil when the straits normalize.

Every producer is producing at max rates outside of the Middle East.

It’s fear mongering not supported by the numbers.

9. Different. IIRC, they hated Carter

for giving the Shah refuge.

You know, that guy the CIA and British Petroleum put in after they overthrew the secular democracy in Iran. Iran hated him so much they let the ayatollahs take over to throw him out.

The US enabled the ayatollahs in Iran. And they spawned the Taliban in Afghanistan after they armed the mullahs against the communists.

The US, instilling theocracies around the globe. Better Gawd than Red.

He was also propelled by the western media who found him "mystical".

Most of them wanted a moderate society, but there was chaos in the movement and that's when the trouble makers took over.
