This is the Obamas' day, but there is something I need to get off my chest.

I was very happy to have something like the inauguration for the Obama Presidential library to keep my mind optimistic. The event went very well. But social media being what it is, had to throw a wrench into the works.

The thought-provoking post floated the idea that Michele Obama should run for president in 2028. It's easy to want to embrace this idea, but then I remembered the photo of her giving George Bush II a great big happy hug and it all came back to me. Michelle's go high, when they go low and Obama's move forward mantra (i.e. don't look back), is not what we need in 2028. We need someone who is furious at what has happened to this country and knows from the moment they walk into the Oval Office that they have to be the face of an avenging angel. They have to know that what we're up against are not people who plan to play fair. They are people with an evil intent who have been dismantling the Constitution in order to obtain power and hold onto it. And because no one has been able to hold them accountable, they now have a zombie Army of MAGAs at their beck and call.

What we need is someone who has the will to hold them accountable, since it's the only way to stop them from moving forward with their objectives. So, unless Michelle is willing to show the kind of gravitas that would convince me she gets it, maybe she should sit the next election out.

1. By all reports, Michelle would NEVER run for president.

She has all the necessary gifts, and then some, but I don't think any amount of public pressure would sway her. Politics in general, and the presidency in particular, is an aspiration that she abhors.

2. It's been repeated ad nauseum that Michelle Obama has absolutely zero interest in political office.

Any speculation about her doing so is 100% pointless and a total waste of time.

3. She has made it absolutely clear many times that she is not interested in running for office

in any capacity, ever, so I don’t understand why people keep bringing this up. She’s not going to do it, so the question of whether she could win an election is meaningless.

5. People who see how phenomenally gifted she is bring it up -- until they understand how loathsome the idea is to her.

But Michelle hugged George W. Bush. And nevar forget: Bush offered her some mints once and SHE TOOK THEM. She did not stand up to and fight the EstablishMINT.

This still a place for supporters of Democr.... oh never mind,

no matter how many red flags, but others...

She hugged Bush. He mentioned god in a tweet. She didn't do enough about x, y, or z. He didn't criticize Rs strongly enough.

The list goes on and on.

That she has no wish to enter politics and run for anything.

I wish folk would respect her wishes.

We would actually be very lucky to have a candidate with her talents and demeanor. She has the intelligence, gravitas and character that could lead a move back to restoring our country.

You can both "go high" AND clearly speak to all the damage done under Trump. You have to speak of going forward, as it is the only way to get out of the mess we are in. Our best candidates have always had the ability to convey a future better than what we have now.

I can't think of any candidate running on anger, even if completely justified, that ever led Democrats to victory.

And I agree .

We need someone with the face of the Avenging Angel .
The repug party has to be stomped into the dirt and salted . Driven back under the rocks they’ve crawled out from and put out of our misery .

All her qualifications are being used now unrestrained, mostly, and still serving us well. I’ll enjoy her and support whatever she wants to do. I admire both of them immensely and happy they’re still young to encourage and work behind the scenes for us..if they want to.

Sit this one out? She is not running. Why would you think she would want to put herself or her family through that?

Turning strengths into weakness to erode support for Democrats. Going high and fighting on the right side of history as the civil rights movement did is a strength. Weakness is going low. Strength is intelligence.

On the one hand, Democrats are mocked for being educated elites who use too many big words, complicated policies, not enough cute slogans or angry yelling. On the other hand, they're out of touch, don't get it, can't understand inequality or anything, naive, too dumb to know that Republicans don't play fair.

BIDEN.

Still the only politician of either Party to defeat Trump (in practical, not conspiratorial, terms).
