I had no clue that republicans hated most of the rest of us. I find it depressing right now. Later I’ll hopefully get pissed. I’m 80. I don’t have much fight left in me, but they really have made me deeply, deeply angry.

is they know how to play the long game. Well, until this MAGA crowd. They seem far more impatient and often heavily armed.

My deepest hope is that they are wrong, but I honestly don’t have a clue how this is going to end.

of believing that they lost. I can't begin to imagine how they behave when their favorite sports team loses.

I don't know how it will end either. It is all so unlike anything we've seen before in this country. Oh there have been bits and pieces of such delusional thinking, but the media and our institutions kept them in line. Well, most of our media has been compromised AND Trump is dismantling our institutions at an unparalleled rate.

But in my mind, the logical conclusion of their long game. Guys like Rick Wilson and Steve Schmidt over at Lincoln Project are doing their very best Dr. Frankenstein. They helped create the monster. Now they don't like what they helped create.

What’s happening seems to be the logical conclusion of their ideas.

It goes back even further, back to Nixon and before, they've always been a plague on the Country, as far as I know they have never passed any legislation designed to help ALL American people, in their history as a party. But they have opposed every piece of legislation that benefits all Americans. Also the Great Depression and all major economic recessions (with the exception of one) have occurred during Republican administrations

The only Republicans I ever volunteered for (too young to vote) in '69 - Mayor John V Lindsey, and Rep Charles Goodell in '70.
Their opposing Dems were too socially conservative for me!

Next year. '71 I registered as a Democrat.

Gross limbaugh preceded fux. And even though fux was started by white nationalist ideologues, its shift to full-on propaganda evolved over time. Part of the reason was that limbaugh kept lowering the bar for what was acceptable in that corner of hell that was right-wing media. To compete for shares of the same audience, they all had to be as repulsive as he was. Fux did it to the point that they were forced to consider themselves entertainment and not news while being successfully sued by Dominion Voting Systems.

The success of Faux Noise is what enabled all the other shit that happened later.

I don't know what transpired between Rupert Murdoch and Ronald Reagan ... maybe nothing did. But the two of them, acting separately or together, ushered in the eventual murder of the United States of America.

We screw up the next two election cycles like we did 2024 and the country is dead.

Since 2017, my spouse and I have kept our passports with us at all times. Just in case we have to cross the border and throw ourselves at the mercy of Canadian Border Services. "We're just visiting. How long are you staying? The rest of our lives."

that for 40 years the GOP has had the exact same BS talking points. Nothing changes in this country. American voters are still morons who have the memory of a gnat. They constantly vote against their own best interests and swallow any and all of the GOP BS from the media without question. Lazy and stupid is the average American voter and it will not change in my lifetime. I am a misanthrope at this point in my live. Older but wiser!
