A teenager was killed and three people were wounded, including an 11-year-old, when gunfire erupted outside a high school graduation ceremony in Northern California, according to police.
The shooting took place at about 7:15 p.m. local time Wednesday in the parking lot of Fairfield High School after a ceremony ended there for Sem Yeto High School graduates, the Fairfield Police Department said.
Four victims were shot, police said. An 18-year-old died while an 11-year-old, a 20-year-old and a 25-year-old were injured, police said.
It's not clear if the 18-year-old was a graduating student.
There is no ongoing threat to the community, police said.

(11,185 posts)Youngest nephew just graduated last year. News alert caught my breath for a second until I remembered none of the kids are there anymore.
One of the happiest day of these families' lives ends in that. Unreal.
Still not sure what went down. Usually this community's rumor mill is pretty brisk, but FPD are keeping pretty tight-lipped. Haven't spoken to the kids yet to see if they've heard anything. This is Sem Yeto's graduation at the Fairfield campus. It's an alternative school that shares the campus. Today, Fairfield students had to actually go to class right next to where the shooting occurred which was . . . somebody's choice. That's turning into a bit of a thing.
Damn shame.
