John Bolton, President Donald Trump's former national security adviser-turned-chief critic, has reached a plea deal with federal prosecutors and is expected to plead guilty to illegal retention of sensitive national security documents, CNN reported Thursday, citing three sources familiar with the matter.

Bolton has also agreed to pay a fine of more than $2 million, according to one of the sources. A conviction on a single count of illegal retention carries a sentence of zero to 60 months in prison. A hearing is scheduled for June 26, according to the court docket.

If we had only had a competent AG during the Biden adminstration raping, pedophiling, sleepy mango mussolini would be in some super max prison where he belongs and the rest of us would be better off.

...to save Trump's ass in the documents case.

5. Literally anyone else would have been arrested and incarcerated without bail within 24 hours

That large a cache of documents should have been arrests and arraignments within 24 hours.

Judge loose canon would not have mattered.

Look at any other government offficial who had substantial documents and they are all whisked away immediately. Maybe, he gets a forfeit your passport and 10 million in bail. But historical precedence is max security until trial.

6. You're changing the subject. You said Garland "couldn't get anything done".

Garland appointed Jack Smith in the summer of 23. Jack Smith promptly had Trump indicted on dozens of felony counts. Trump was arraigned. He had a trial set for May in 2024. Canon postponed it and then by July, she dismissed it. Had she not done that, he most assuredly would've been found guilty and faced prison.

I'm not a big fan of Garland dragging his feet, but your initial statement is not compatible with reality, not even a little bit.

7. He refused to sign off arresting him when they saw the warrant results

That's a do nothing response.

You won't be able to convince many here that the lack of approval to arrest trump immediately following the warrant was an adequate response and not a do nothing response.

8. Assigning a special prosecutor who indicts someone on 30-40 felonies and has a trial date set is certainly not nothing.

I don't give a single shit who is convinced of what. That isn't subject to an opinion. Thats a factual thing that happened. Canon prevented the trial from going forward. Period. End of argument.
