Crude oil is dropping today because Krasnov claimed that the Iran negotiations are proceeding rapidly, when in fact, Iran claimed it is done negotiating with the US.
Then Krasnov "supposedly" ordered Bibi to stop bombing Lebanon and claimed that a cease fire there is on the horizon.
Krasnov fears $7/gal gasoline on the 4th of July.

(2,003 posts)Is that Iran will insist on a total end to Israeli action in Lebanon, leading to another "pause" in talks.

(32,889 posts)no negotiations unless Israel stops attacking Lebanon and then it is leaked that Krasnov read the riot act to Bibi, which, of course, is total BS.

(4,750 posts)Yes. Trump is trying to manipulate oil prices and profit from front running some of his tweets and lies.
But no one can "order markets to drop prices" and the Exxon guys are trying to push prices back up so Trump can't even tell them what to do.
Oil is a super complex market that has to factor in grades, transportation costs, refinement costs, sanctions, wars, abductions of Maduros, drone attacks, pipelines and supply curves. Most likely oil is dropping because flow is proving to be less interrupted than was believed or expected and Iran is now shipping oil to China via rail.
The way that Trump, his children and his circle profit is by front running. Whenever any of them know what Trump is about to tweet they place trades that leverage that info. That is easy. Basically "insider trading".

(4,750 posts)As the quote goes "The USA is an oil company with a military." That means the oil companies tell the POTUS what to do; not the other way around.
We can't do much about that but we can keep the focus on blatant unchecked corruption:
