The world can breath a sigh of relief.
If they are giving him the standard 30-question MMSE, which sounds like the one they have repeatedly administered, it is designed to detect moderate-to-severe dementia.
As he crows about passing the test, what he is saying is that we should be pleased our president has mild-to-moderate dementia.
And it is pretty clear they think he is in the mild-to-moderate range or they wouldn't keep checking to see if he has progressed to the moderate-to-severe stage.
I suppose it is possible they are giving him the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), which is designed to detect earlier signs, but somehow I doubt it
On edit: Turns out it is the MoCA he's getting. Sorry for the false assumption. See Ms. Toad's post below.

(14,002 posts)(AKA dual Anti-Social and Narcissistic Personality Disorder diagnosis) has been crystal clear from his public conduct since he came down the escalator. (And was probably clear before that, but the public/video record wasn't as extensive.)
This Aug 16, 2017 post runs through the criteria. This isn't random "arm chair" diagnosis. The record is clear and he is way past the minimum criteria.

(14,002 posts)With Fred Trump's emotionally abusive, win at all costs, aggression above all else, crush every empathic impulse "parenting" perhaps he didn't have much of a chance of not becoming a psychopath.
But origins aside, the rise of such a man to power, not once, but twice is as shameful a chapter in our history as the founding concessions to enslavers.

(38,860 posts)Just read his comments and compare them to the test.
As for repeated checking - assessing cognitive function is standard every year for anyone Medicare age or older. Using a test to make that assessment isn't required, but it is standard.

(14,002 posts)The MoCA adds up to 30 points, but has only 17 or so independent questions across eight areas of cognition. I had seen the MMSE referred to as a "30-question test," so figured that's what what he was taking (given his repeated references to 30 questions). However, when I found a PDF of the MMSE it's clear that, like the MOCA, there are fewer than 30 independent questions.
But clearly it is the MoCA that presents pictures of animals to name. The number and type of animals he describes don't show up on any version, but nevermind. (I did get a kick when he threw in Shark as one of the animals because according to Stormy Daniels he has a thing about sharks.)
