Pentagon puts building blocks in place for Cuba invasion

The Pentagon has spent months positioning the troops and weapons needed for the U.S. to launch a military attack on Cuba — all it needs is a final go-ahead from Donald Trump.

The president has floated an invasion of the island after economic and political pressure failed to topple the Communist government. But the Navy’s built-up presence in the region — the largest in the world outside the Middle East — would allow the U.S. to act immediately.

These strategically placed assets set the table for military action, from a capture of Havana’s leadership much like the seizure of former Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, to a series of precision strikes. And they open the possibility that the U.S. throws itself into the third international conflict of the Trump administration.

Cuba is “in a lot of trouble,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Wednesday at a full Cabinet meeting. “Having a failed state 90 miles from our shores is a threat to the national security of the United States.”

We're already fighting a proxy war for Israel. Now Chickenhawk Bonespurs wants to start one for Cuban exiles most of whom are dead or soon will be.

1. Obviously, having a failed state 90 miles from their shores is a much bigger threat to Cuba's national security.

The INSTANT the first bomb explodes over Havanna, a million people will be headed to south Florida. You think ICE WONT be standing in the surf in their body armor and Bermuda Shorts, guns drawn telling them they can't come in?
You bet your ass they will be.
And Miami in August will make Minneapolis look like someone protesting a fucking jaywalking ticket.

Trump has no idea what he's buying with this. And fuck Marco for selling it to him, because he knows EXACTLY how this will go down, and STILL thinks he's gonna run for president on this fantasy.

With its people. This has insurgency and gorilla warfare all over it if boots hit the ground. If boots don't hit the ground, nothing changes.

Either way, more debt and higher inflation.

They have horrible infrastructure especially with the electricity grid and food shortages for years. For decades they’ve been paddling bathtubs across the Gulf Stream to escape. The only people with any money are government officials or those with direct contact with tourist. I don’t know how you could even poll a people that live under a communist dictatorship.

That being said, they are independent and deserve to stay that way. And a humanitarian disaster for the US if they were to invade. It just sounds like a pretty big stretch to say their government is popular…..

With civilians, a large hospital and logistics facility, (middle eastern prisoners) and facilities such as family housing and a K-12 school.
Why the ever lovin' F*** would the Pentagon consider attacking a country with a popular leader where we have a base?
Panama had an unpopular leader, and it was still a cluster.
