Attorneys general from 23 states plus Washington, D.C., skipped an anti-fraud task force meeting hosted by Vice President JD Vance on Tuesday afternoon, citing short notice.
In a letter obtained by MS NOW, the attorneys general all Democrats wrote that they are committed to stopping fraud, waste, and abuse in all government programs, but suggested the event was planned too much at the last minute to facilitate their attendance.
While we would appreciate the opportunity to engage in serious discussions, the invitation was provided with less than one business days notice with no agenda, the attorneys general wrote. This short notice does not match the spirit of collaboration that has long defined our joint efforts with federal partners.
A source familiar with the planning of the meeting told MS NOW that the Democratic attorneys general received the invitation on Friday afternoon with a deadline to RSVP by the next day, while Republican attorneys general received the invitation days earlier ...

In 2024, a federal jury needed just two hours to return a guilty verdict for former Las Vegas councilwoman Michele Fiore for pocketing some $70,000 in donations to build a memorial for police officers killed in the line of duty and spending it instead on herself, including rent and her daughter's wedding.
Then, weeks before Fiore was scheduled to be sentenced in May 2025, President Trump granted her a full, unconditional pardon.
Fiore is one of at least 15 former elected officials and their co-conspirators who were either charged with or convicted of corruption offenses and then pardoned by Trump after he returned to office last year ...

(13,663 posts)Since quite obviously vance didn't want them there. Maybe send one to take notes on what was covered. I'd bet it was how to rig the election or something vance wanted to discuss without Democrats knowing. Not sure them not going was smart.

(29,427 posts)giving the Democratic AGs one day's notice gives them the chance to run ads about how "no Democrat was interested in prosecuting or preventing fraud". And the media will never correct that.

Notice how they never present any evidence for this "fraudy fraud fraud everywhere!" shit outside of their own tired conspiracy theories. Actual fraud in these programs is ridiculously rare. It's all just a fucking excuse to push fascism and silence dissent.
