Data Centers are the perfect plot for the end of the world scenario.

If I were an advanced, alien civilization bent on testing the intelligence of mankind what I would do is provide the plans for data centers to the wealthiest and greediest corporations on Earth. Because, you would think that the corporations using their money to circumvent the laws and the will of the people would be stopped in their tracks with one argument: Any innovation that promises to improve human existence, but needs to suck up a necessary resource like water, is not an innovation that will benefit mankind.

That should be all that is needed in logic.
