WV-02: Iranian immigrant Parsi wins Democratic primary for U.S. House district 2
Ace Parsi, an Iranian immigrant and Morgantown community organizer, has narrowly won the Democratic primary for U.S. House district 2.
The Associated Press called the race for Parsi around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, a day after Tuesday’s election.
Parsi pulled in 17,696 votes and Stephanie Spears Tomana received 16,908 votes, according to preliminary results. U.S. Navy veteran Steve Wendelin received 9,980 votes in the race.
Parsi, a Morgantown community organizer, immigrated from Iran to the United States with this family when he was 8 years old. His brother was about to be conscripted into the military.
