West Virginia is right wing. And Manchin is an attention whore. Fetterman was always pro Israel but the other things have more to do with how his state voted.

Gabbard was known to be right wing and anti gay. She switched to Democrat becsuse that's the only way she could win.

Sinema had a history of switching parties.

All of this was known. There is nothing secret or needing additional vetting with this.

More concerning is how people continued and even now continue to push Gabbard and her fucking conspiracy theories about the democratic party.

Republicans would like nothing more than to destroy the Democratic party from within - have a candidate run as a Democrat yet govern as Republican.

I seriously think that is why he turned. He gave absolutely no indication that he was anything other than a progressive in a hoodie during his campaign. And I really don’t think he’s smart enough to be that completely deceptive.

....they do more "vetting" on Dem allies/operatives who are trying to help them than on their candidates! I swear it is like pulling teeth to get any of them to have a 15-30 minute meeting. Ugh! (Yes, I know they are busy!). Then there is Ohio, where they just don't really bother to be anything more than an org in name only (OINO), so what happens is Republicans run as Dems, "hand to god" I was told this by republicons, because their are frequently numerous races unfilled by a real Dem candidate so they run as the Dem candidate.

Whoever really holds the real power among DEMS needs to go because they suck, it is not an age thing, it is a performance issue!

Don't even ask me to talk about the "liberal" non-profits. I, a passionate reproductive rights person among other things, have tried to get my resume into Planned Parenthood and other liberal org for years. Nothing, nada, zip, zilch. Pathetic. It is all patronage, cronyism, and nepotism. these groups love holding parties that is one thing I do know, meanwhile the AFP is well-oiled, well-organized and well-operationalized.

and if they can collect enough valid nominating signatures or pay enough money that is required,
there would seem to be nothing that would stand in their way from
getting on the ballot....

Free speech and educating the local voting public
would seem to be the best defense against any such 'false flag candidate'
at this time---
although filing lawsuits against them, even without a good case,
would probably weaken their campaign--
even if such lawsuits were doomed to failure, they would generate negative publicity!

(probably why Republicans file so many doomed lawsuits!)

The party can distance itself from candidates who embarrass the party or don’t represent the party’s values.

Certainly, there have been times when party insiders tried to squelch or sabotage or just plain ignore a particular campaign, mostly to give advantage to another more preferred candidate.

But nobody needs permission from the DNC to run.

Her voting record when she was my local rep was good. Very good friends of mine (gay) hosted events for her and at that time she walked the walk and talked the talk. The Senate changed her. Money corrupts.

As for Fetterman, people who knew him personally said the stroke changed him. There are brain differences between liberals and conservatives and those areas of the brain may have been damaged by his stroke.

It isn't always a matter of vetting.
