Almost double the predicted 65,000 jobs. The federal sector lost 8,000 jobs.
With this booming economy maybe it's time to raise interest rates? What say you Warsh?

(23,916 posts)So, this isnt exactly booming, it just exceeded very low expectations.
Warsh doesnt take office until next week.
With stagflation a risk, I dont expect a rate hike will be considered until early 2027, but of course the effects of the Iran war could change things quickly.

(32,676 posts)I have heard economists say because of these numbers it shows the economy is stabilizing.
I know when Warsh takes over and as you have posted, he is only 1 vote in deciding interest rates. I also saw that some members of the Fed in the last report did something that hasn't been done in a long time, they basically gave an opinion that the data didn't support raising interest rates, they maintained that today's economic client suggests no interest rate cuts through 2026.
I was thinking that maybe Warsh would read my post. 😊
There is a wee bit of talk of raising interest rates;

(3,254 posts)during the Clinton years, the average was 230,000 new jobs per month. The number today was half of that. This guy had the gall to say the economy was doing great. His graduate school needs to revoke his degree.

(39,155 posts)assume that includes every month. I remember he had months with well over 300,000.

(811 posts)Bessent needed a positive, but not too positive, jobs number to simultaneously make it seem like the economy is OK but also justify rate cuts. He got it. He gets the number he needs every month, almost to the 1,000 jobs added. Talk to anyone who is actually looking for work. How is it going for them? Does anyone believe the numbers from the last few months?
It is long past time to stop trusting any data coming out of this Administration.
