Viktor Orban didn't lose because he was the worst of 2 candidates. Victor Orban didn't lose because he was a dictator. Victor Orban lost because his opponent rallied around unwashed Hungarians.
Back in March of 2025 when Senator Schumer gave the OK for Senate Democrats to vote for the CR, he went on Chris Haye's show and flat out stated that Krasnov will burn it all down and then Americans will vote for Democrats. That's not my opinion, I heard him say that.
If this is the strategy for Democrats going forward, it is wrong, it is dumb.
Democrats still have time to organize a group of progressive and moderate members of Congress, unwashed Americans, business people, buy a fucking white board, everyone involved has an equal vote. Fucking publicize what they are doing, fighting for working class Americans and small and yes Big businesses. Having a Project 2029 will give every Democrat a unified message, will eliminate fights between moderates and progressives.
I get sick when I hear, "the American people want,' well, the American people want members of Congress who will fight for them to make the American Dream realistic again.
I was a part of a brainstorming group that did the white board/brainstorming process, I represented our company's union. Our corporate Big wigs sent out the order to all factories to cut costs. Our union met with management and made our participation conditional, we would not participate in any effort that cut union members, our plant manager agreed. Our group was comprised of an equal number of union and company people and we met regularly every week. We were so successful that our strategy was copied by plant managers at other factories, and we didn't cut any people.
The Democratic party needs participation from its base in decision making. Get mayors, state officials, local union officials involved in Project 2029. The DNC and the other leaders of our party should seriously consider this.
Whoever started the idea that the Democratic Party is the lesser of 2 evils most likely was a Magat, it's a losing strategy.
Just a suggestion from someone who was involved in cutting costs for my factory 25 years ago that ended up keeping our factory running to this very day.

Democrats are such a big tent, with a wide range of ideas and priorities, that any single set of policies that purported to be a unified consensus of the Democratic Party would almost certainly be a watered down, bland, unappetizing, meaningless pablum of a document.
It would almost certainly be contaminated with the Hollow Centrist Trojan Horse Abundance Agenda nonsense that Ezra Klein and others have been trying to shove down the Partys throat as the only path to victory.

Id rather see each individual Dem Primary candidate propose their own Project 2029 agenda of priorities, clearly staking out their positions on various issues, including court expansion.
Then, whichever candidate secures the nomination, their proposals become the partys Project 2029.
Otherwise its going to be party insiders and consultants in smoke filled rooms deciding what to cram down voters throats.
Again.

(32,676 posts)Everyone involved gets 1 vote and the majority prevails. When Project 2029 is drawn up then Democrats speak with one voice, then Democrats become united.
I have seen articles that caused me to write about this, the articles stated that Democrats can be our own worst enemy.
Case in point, what Chuck Schumer did in March 2025. The vast majority of Congressional Democrats were united to take a stand and vote NO to the CR but a handful of Senators nullified the will of the majority.
I understand that politics is local, and I agree, each candidate can have his/her agenda that best suits his/her constituents.
I am talking about issues that effect all of us all across the country. I am a proud union member, a local official for 26 years, reelected every 3 years, and we have many slogans that are based on UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL. Not every union member agreed with our Local Union decision but we took a vote and my vote counted 1 vote just like every other union member's vote. When the vote was taken debate ended.
There needs to be a cross section of people who sit at the table to create Project 2029, it won't just be DNC officials or big wig officials, the DNC will be included and have 1 vote. I was just a maintenance worker and a union official when I participated in cutting costs for our factory. We met 1 day a week and the rest of the week I got input from my fellow "unwashed" workers. The Democratic Party gets input from their constituents, let's make them a part in decision making.

(23,916 posts)Party insiders, consultants and K street lobbyists would control the process.
With individual candidates, although some might rely on consultants, others would develop their policy positions based on their values and vision, rather than some focus group tested nonsense. Hopefully, the Democratic base can sniff out the phonies and support candidates who will do more than just pay lip service to various groups and issues.
In my scenario, everybody would truly have a vote- in the primaries.

(32,676 posts)We had 1 choice for every office or do a useless write-in.
I am talking more about national issues that effect every Democrat in every state.
Maybe one of the agreed upon issues that comes out of project 20229 are ideas how to combat Citizens United, how to get so much money out of politics. If that becomes a part of Project 2029 then unwashed Americans know where our elected leaders stand, in writing with agreed upon remedies.

(26,423 posts)The fact that they come up only during elections means that debates are on disagreement, not agreement.
Otherwise, why debate?
And that's the point.
Let's agree on core values and push them RELENTLESSLY.
For further discussion.
There SHOULD HAVE BEEN an agreed-upon common message IN 2026.
Let's share what we believe in common and debate the details only.
Otherwise
A. People see only what they want to see (or hate what they want to hate) and
B. The F***ing GOP gets to set the playing field.
What's YOUR project 2026 to fix this Nazi onslaught of resentment/outrage/destruction du jour?
