Student debt. Thanx (with an x), Republicans.

I was fortunate. I paid for my two oldest children's college educations and both of them chose to attend public universities when they were still relatively cheap (1999-2007). I was able to pay off their debt fairly quickly. My ex-wife sent my youngest to an expensive private college, but he was able to get a well-paying job at Microsoft several months after graduation and paid off his loan fairly quickly as well. I look at college costs today and shake my head.

They doubled people's payments. Biden had a plan in place that allowed people to pay their loans back with reasonable payments based on their incomes. Trump more than doubled those payments and millions of borrowers are scrambling or going into default. in the process they literally raised my interest rate that I had agreed to decades ago.

There are people who will pay every month for their whole lives now and at the end still owe more than they borrowed.

And they screwed students on the front end too limiting grants and changing the requirements to qualify for full time to more credits.
