Graham Platner-REMOVE THE CAP !

Good on him for pointing out that a simple fix for social security is to just remove the cap. There have been a lot of democratic representatives who have tried to get this message through, but it always seems to fall to the wayside.

It’s one of the most important and effective messages the Democratic Party has. Really powerful in its simplicity.
Hopefully , REMOVE THE CAP , will be a message that all democratic representatives will push. Push to the point that it becomes a national meme.

9. That's not the issue. It is about the rich paying their fair share.

The rich have dealt themselves every loophole in the book. When you look at ALL taxes, the morbidly rich pay a MUCH lower effective rate than working people.

There is no valid argument for capping their income for these programs. They have gotten rich off the backs of working people.

5. Removing the cap on SS would certainly help, but it's not a 'fix'.

Most estimates show the removing the cap on SS would extend the program's solvency by a few years.

But eventually, workers are going to have to start paying more in, or recipients are going to have to have their benefits reduced.

with a list of other sensible reforms.

The party should workshop it, find what makes the most sense and EVERY LAST D should sign off on and it, and make it one of the priorities they sell universally.

This is both the right thing and a serious problem that needs fixed AND something that be very popular.

Ever since SS was created, the amount paid out monthly has been linked to how much people paid in. Is his plan to decouple that ?
